How far can you go after the gas light in your car comes on?

Gas light or on empty? Two different things. Those numbers seem low for gas light. Most cars, the gas light comes on at 1/8 of a tank. Then on "empty", my 2 vehicles still have roughly 2 gallons left.

My last car? I would already be walking with a gas can in my hand. New car? No idea. You NEVER run a fuel injected car dry! Bad things happen.

My truck, (I had a 5 gallon can in the back JUST to find out) turns out about 60 miles!

My car is at the top of the list.

*goes to garage and puts penis into Accords tailpipe and whispers, "I love you."*

My f150 can go about 40 miles once it comes on. Have never completely ran out, but thats the farthest I've gone.

All I can say is that if you have a gas light in your car, it must be a really old car! And if it comes on...well, something had to light it, so stop, drop and roll right away.

I have only seen my fuel light come on once, and I was on my way to the gas station when it happened. I try not to push my luck.

50 km I think. It beeps and then counts down the kilometres.

I don't have a light in my main vehicle which is sort of surprising.

But I once worked for a big red neck trucking company, talking 18 wheelers the long haul type where you would have to fuel at certain places and even then a fill up would be a couple hundred gallons. You might drive 600 or more miles a day and ...
Ok this big ass red neck back asswards big southern trucking company wouldn't put fuel gauges in any of there equipment. You had to take a yard stick and dip the the 200 gallon tanks to figure out how much fuel you had. So moronic.

According to the manual, my "gaslight" will first shine orange, then eventually turn to red, and then finally flashing red. (Followed by, 'pull over and get some gas, you fucking idiot !) ;)

But, I wouldn't know since I panic at a quarter of a tank. Way too paranoid about getting stranded to find out.

But, in theory, probably 25 miles or so by the time the flashing red was flashing, um, red.

Data points 13
Average 47.77 miles
Max 99 miles
Min 24 miles
St. Dev. 23.54

I don't want to find out. There's just no need.

In days of yore when I bought my first car, I was so proud I took my mother out for a spin. Unfortunately, I wasn't paying attention to the E/F needle and we ran out of gas. How embarrassed can you get? !oops!

According to that site my Lexus GS400 can get about 48 miles on average, which I would say is inaccurate from experience, but I try not to test that too often. I get all sweaty and nervous when the gas light comes on and I'd rather not deal with that.

38.22 Miles...Which I personally knew that when my tank E I had a gallon left..on average my car gets around 25-30 mpg

letting your car coast near "Empty" is seriously messing with your Fuel Pump...You will eventually have to fork out cash to get it replaced...Keep your car Filled with gas Guys...It'll save you a few hundred-bucks due to Fuel pump replacement/labor.....|.........
