Can you fix things, like boilers etc ?

My hot water went off yesterday and when i went down to check the boiler a huge cross was showing on the LED panel, thankfully i managed to reset the thing and everything seems to be working again, it's less than two years old, #-o but if it had been anything more complicated i'd have been fucked.

Can you fix things ?

I can fix and build anything. I’m very mechanical inclined.

Anything electrical i leave to the experts, i'll try a bit of plumbing as long as i think i'm not fucking it up worse.

Some things YouTube is a god send. I’ve fixed my furnace several times using YouTube videos. I’ve learned a lot of electrical at work.

I do wonder just how much those YouTube vids have cost repair companies, mind it serves them right for overcharging for decades.

That and you can get any part you need on Amazon

As if! I'm too busy being the baddest bij on the block, these hands were made for clutching Berkin and sifting through Macy's racks, not tools and dirt and grime and stuff. Gonna be honest we pay other people to do that kinda shit.

Do it yourself and you can buy another pair of Jimmy Choos

I'll do minor maintenance stuff that isn't too complicated. I'll do minor electrical like change a light switch or a plug. I even built my own computer from ordered parts. But anything plumbing I've ever tried has turned into a disaster. No way I'll touch plumbing ever again.

I am good at fixing and building things. I am a very talented, wonderful person. I have references.

I pause when I meet grown adults who can't afford both. I usually presume they had some sort of wicked drug addiction that crippled them financially in their 20s.

Well you know what they say when you assume! I can't afford either and I'm a grown ass adult! And I've only ever had a corner of a pot brownie like literally the point and that was it only thing I got out of it was a restful night sleep not high not anything else! And I didn't even buy it someone I knew offered me a bit!!

That's how it all starts next thing ya know you're on your back with your legs pointed to jesus and hoping that you aren't too blasted to collect the money before he leaves.

I'm afraid I have virtually no handyman skills, unfortunately. When I was a kid my father showed me nothing when he did electrical repairs or painted the walls, etc. I think the idea was to get me into the academic/professional track, but being a storehouse of random facts doesn't get you too far in the real world. I had several stints in college and graduate school which left me in debt and didn't really lead me anywhere. You should see the employment gaps in my resume. ](*,)

I guess the point of this is that if I had any handyman or crafts skills, I might have had something to fall back on in the lean times, or at least save money on repairs. Though don't get the idea that my father was some kind of he-man for his repair skills. He had great taste in women's fashion when he gave clothes to my mother (his taste in guys' clothing he gave to me sucked!). Personally, I think he secretly wished he could wear the ladies' apparel himself!

I can do a lot of household repairs, fix simple appliances, some car stuff, etc. Like Alistair said, YouTube is a huge help. If I can't actually do the work, I can often figure out the problem or at least find a parts list and diagram to narrow it down.
