Hi you all

I'm very shy but want to talk to somebody when I go to work out.
But I saw almost of guys have their own i-pod or so much concentrate
with work out. Sometime I think that at work out place is not good for
looking for friend[-X. What do you think?

I wouldn't talk to anyone with an iPod on. These things sort of indicate "I'm not interested in talking with anyone right now." Also, don't talk to anyone who is in the middle of a workout. But you should be able to chat with them between machines. You have something in common with these other guys. You're both at the gym. That's your common ground. "Do you know how to use this machine?" "Do you know where a drinking fountain is?" Simple questions. Their responses will probably indicate how interested they are.

I agree with the I-pod but you can talk to the guy between sets usually ask if you can use it while he is resting and then go on from there.

used to feel the same way

I think the IPOD is a default thing now

I have approached guys at the gym with questions about technique and for spots - or I have offered to spot

no harm no foul - if someone does not want to deal, they kinda blow u off - it's only happened 1x so the odds r good

i have found people at the gym to be willing to talk - about working out - helping, asking, etc

i have made a few friends in the year i have been at my gym

me my last bf there

the gym is a good place to meet guys - friendships or +

but u gotta approach people - plenty to talk about

Probably the best time to talk is while getting dressed in the locker room before a workout, or right after and before a shower. iPods are usually off, and men are willing to engage in small talk. Maybe a time to ask about a meeting place for people to talk. That you are hoping to make friends here at the gym. You may not get any response, but then again you may.

Just bring up something random that may stand out in the gym. I didn't it the other day when I was in the gym and met a guy. We talked for about 10 minutes while between machines, and I did get his name too. Hopefully, I'll see him and have a chance to talk to him again the next time I go to the gym. ;)
