How large can the file size of gifs & videos posted in forums be?

Sorry that it took me a while to answer - I had to look up the settings.

The file size is tied to the member's usergroup.

There's also some increases that happen for members who are Verified Self-Pic posters to allow them to post more self-images and videos in the Show Yourself Off forum.

I was unaware of these unfortunate limitations.
I have posted a couple of videos already, eating-up my quota, with no way to delete the posts in question.

To us, porn fans, motion, sex sounds and fuck noises are an essential part of our viewing pleasure. Preferably in High-Res, to better appreciate the men's body hair, the silky texture of a veiny dick, the wrinkles of a tightened sack, the subtle silver nets in a trail of sperm...
The freedom to still or replay in slow-motion is also highly appreciated.

With the dropping prices of disk space (no need for RAID10 for this part) and so many video editing tools around, static pictures and animated gifs are a technology of the past.
How about a dedicated thread to short vids, much like R.I.P. newTumbl ?

• Disk space issues ? --> automatic clean-up posts after a few weeks
• Copyright issues ? --> limit video length to 1-2 minutes. Short extracts never breach copyright.

We're in the process of looking at the file size limits. It's a matter of weighing the added value of videos vs cost of storage (since we are cloud hosted, our hosting company charges for storage) vs the DMCA issues for copyrighted media.

If it's self-videos, the verified poster option increases the storage limits significantly.

If it's studio-produced videos, those shouldn't be posted on JUB because of the copyright issues; the posting guidelines allow teaser clips but not full-length videos. For longer videos, those shouldn't be uploaded to JUB but instead should be posted on a hosting site like XVideo, Pornhub, etc which avoids consuming storage on JUB's servers and also removes JUB's liability for copyright issues for commercial content. We still do not not want current full-length videos from porn studios (e.g. MEN, Sean Cody, Helix, et al) linked from JUB because we are sponsored by advertising from those studios.

You do have the ability to delete media if you upload it to your public media album and you can link any content in your albums into other areas of the forum and into Conversation messages. It's only when you upload it directly into a thread that the content has to be removed by a moderator.
