How long ago did you get your 1st cellphone?

I got my first cell phone around five years ago.

For whatever reason......I've been really slow to adopt the "digital revolution".

I got my first PC around six years ago.

I didn't get dvd player until almost all porn's began using dvd format.

How about U?

Back in the early nineties my older brother had a cell phone that looked like the first pic.

I got one for my 14th birthday, because that was all I had asked for. My parents wanted me to wait until I was sixteen and had my license, but I was literally the only kid in my eighth grade class without one.

I think it was around 2001. Cingular was the provider.

I got a pre-paid phone in 2001 when I was living in Switzerland, but I gave it to a friend when I left the following year. I believe I got my current phone in December 2005, and I rarely use it. I get poor reception at home, so I generally use my landline. The cell phone is only for when I'm out and about.

You guys need an iPhone! It can do everything and more. You don't even buy an iPhone to make calls anymore.

My first one would have been around 1995 because I can remember making sure it was tri-band so that I could take it over to Florida for my first visit.

When I was at a short-order restaurant, a young lady came in to ask the waitress if she could use their phone. (The pay phone already had been removed. This is very common in public accommodations.)

If I'm "out and about", I cringe at the thought of not having a cell phone. Also, I don't like the idea of picking up my calls on an answering machine at home. It's been seven years. I can't leave home without my cell phone!

I think it was back in 1997 - this tank of a Nokia. I remember having to have it on-charge for 24 hours before I could use it.

Now, my phone has more processing power, more ram, more storage than my first computer. It also costs about the same amount I once paid for 4MB of 72-pin SIMM RAM.

i got a very "chunky" Nokia - around 1996? a few years later - the very flash StarTAC came along - and it looked like it was right out of Star Trek-- or so it seemed.. the reception was not that good - it cost around $2000 when it first came out - by the time I got one it was down to around $300. -- we've come a long way !! the keyboard was soooo small -- it was also called the "clamshell" because of it's unique shape - it was the smallest availible at the timethat's for sure --I think they made a lanyard for it too - so you could wear it around your neck ! awesome, huh?
