Just when we thought the tone of the political discourse couldn't get any lower, Limbaugh asserts that angry blacks have all along been hatching a 30yr master plan to train black children as militants. ACORN, of course, is part of this nefarious America-hating scheme. *cue ominous music*

What's sad about this is that, while there is much focus on the not so subtle racebaiting by McCain/Palin in recent rallies, few in the Media seem to really be talking about the prime mover in the gleefully racist turn the election has taken: Right Wing Talk Radio. Why is it they can get away with saying such things on radio that would never fly on television? Is it time to revisit those regulations? Some might argue that it's a freedom of speech issue, but is the violence that hatespeech foments different than any other kind of "domestic terrorism"?

Of course we have freedoms, but the kinds of things that are being said about Blacks or Arabs for that matter, was said about, hmmm Jews perhaps, the reaction would be quite different, in my projection (speaking as a Jew of course).

I'm 41. Which probably means I'm old enough to die out with them. Still, I hope you are right. I don't mean to be ageist at all, but sometimes I feel it is a generational thing. That's not to say that there aren't cool older people (this board alone is home to some cool ones) as well as hateful younger people.

Ed Rollins (I think), a Republican strategists for many presidents, wrote an article recently about how the Republican party will have to rebuild and recreate an ideology for the changing demographics. They can no longer expect to play on the fear card of ethnic minorities since these populations are booming. They will have to become a more inclusive party, by default. And part of it is due to the greater numbers of college educated people in society as they tend to be more liberal (or smarter depending on who you ask).

They will have to drop this evangelical crap (or bigotry) to remain a potent political party.

Thanx for sharing that! It makes perfect sense when you think about it and it's a very hopeful sign that things are actually changing for the better (even if there are those out there who would keep us in the dark ages if we let them). And I think it was Rollins: the same guy who said Obama was going to win by a landslide.

These losers, not Limbaugh, are the racists. They say hateful things like "KKK" USA. They say things like "God Damn America." These are the haters. And they've been spreading this hate for 30 years or better. They don't believe America is a land of opportunity, that it is. That's a shame, because so many who've come here from other lands, know that America is the land of opportunity. And they prove it every day!
