How many calories do you eat per day?

normally depends on season --eat less in summer--but locked up in winter cold I eat more---also skipping gym due to pandemic --also like to drink wine and so do my close friends---gained 10 pounds since this covid shit started.. expect to get it together this year.

I don't have any idea how many calories I eat. I do really need to lose 25 pounds, but I am not trying too hard.

Probably about 2000 to 2400 calories a day.

Unfortunately they aren't all good calories (alcohol)...but otherwise, I consume about 250 calories at breakfast, 250 at lunch and about 800 - 1200 at dinner, with about 250 calories in fruit or protein snacks during the day.

Wow.

That was then.

Now, thanks to the advice of the OP to use loseit.com to track calories, I consume about 1400 to 1600 calories per day. As I have noted, I have lost a huge amount of excess weight over the last year and a half and have had no trouble keeping it off.

I now consume about 100 calories for breakfast, the same for lunch and about 600 at dinner...with the rest being consumed as snacks (mostly healthy) through the day. Alhough I am not doing a 100% dry February, I am looking to limit my calories from drinks (including non-alcoholic) to less than 200 per day...since I don't get nearly the same amount of exercise in winter as in the other seasons. It is too easy to drink calories.

I am a big beefy boy...

I have only counted calories one time in my life - for over a year I had less than 1000 calories a day and less than 10 grams of fat in a day - for the first time in my life my waist was smaller than my legnth (29 inch inseam) - I was so fucking happy - I was so proud - and then my friends - all of my friends say to me:

"you look sick - you look like you are dying"

I was furious

When I had lost most of the weight....I would have so many people afraid to ask about it because they were all afraid I was ill. So they would tell me how great I was looking and then add 'So are you okay?'

Most people forget or ignore the calories that they drink. Just one can of Coke has 140 calories. I’ve been drinking a lot more flavored water. It was the only thing that kept me from craving soda.

^Flavored water/seltzer waters are a godsend for those who drink a lot of soda. They get a lot of shit for their lack of flavor, but that's only in comparison to soda and other sugary drinks.

Congrats to those progressing toward their weight loss goals! :=D:

Everytime I see your post, my eyes gravitate toward your avatar. I work out a lot and watch what I eat to work toward what you look like. Damn I'm jelly.

I pay more attention to what is in the ingredients of what I eat rather the calories. Though I can't imagine it is a lot, especially since I have cut some more unhealthy things from my regular eating habits recently.

I am paying a bit more attention to the cals nowadays, especially drinking as much cola as i do.

On a side note, why is there Banned written under MakeDigitalLove further up the thread, he was never banned just took a self imposed break for a bit.

I imagine, too, it probably helps giving flavored water a fair chance. One sip or one small bottle may not be enough.

I've heard people who dumped cows milk in favor of soy milk who've commented they didn't like the soy milk initially. Then they got used to it.

As for flavored water, it's become a staple for me in summer. I never drank soft drinks much, so flavored water doesn't really replace anything. But I like it better than plain water, so it's easier for me to drink enough to stay hydrated.

Perhaps taking a break is bannable offense!

On other forums, I have had people take breaks, and want the account locked so as to remove temptation. So I think I've seen posters on those with "Banned" since it's an easy way or maybe the only way for administrators to lock the account.

Several years ago, there would be times when I would drink 1 or 2 cans of soda a day. I was one of those people who had trouble gaining weight, so I never really cared, even knowing the shit it did to my insides.

I made friends with people who drank flavored seltzer waters every damn day, so I decided to try it. It definitely doesn't taste like soda, but once you get used to the flavor, it brings the same satisfaction as soda. I get an itch to drink soda a few times a year and I allow myself to do so those few times, but I can't even finish a whole can anymore. The taste is too rich and knowing how much sugar is in it grosses me out. Not worth it.

I haven't gone near a soft drink in years. Every so often, I think might be nice to have one...but then I look at how much sugar is in it.

One of the water choices I like is lemon-lime sparkling water. It reminds me enough of 7 Up, which was one of the few soft drinks I really drank much of as a teenager, but it doesn't have the sugar I want to avoid.

I might add...my concern with sugar is just that it's not particularly healthy.

I don’t care for the seltzer waters. They all taste like Alka-Seltzer to me. I’ll pick up a flavored water or just put some lemon juice in water. Cucumber soaked in the water is a refreshing flavor too.

I have a pitcher of lemon water in the fridge almost all the time and will dilute it with San Pellegrino or club soda.

And my favourite fizzy drink is Guinness.

But every rare once in awhile, like maybe 3 or 4 times a year, I will knock back a can of Coke.

I like to eat and eat a lot because it all balances out.

"To accurately calculate the total calories that someone gets out of a given food, you would have to take into account a dizzying array of factors, including whether that food has evolved to survive digestion; how boiling, baking, microwaving or flambéing a food changes its structure and chemistry; how much energy the body expends to break down different kinds of food; and the extent to which the billions of bacteria in the gut aid human digestion and, conversely, steal some calories for themselves."
