i havent run out of cute guys to sleep with

thats as far as i've thought it out

the professionals must have a margin of error though, so who knows, you are probably right

maybe the way we define gay is becoming more broad

The Kinsey study may have been scientific in its day but would be unacceptable in today.

I think the figure of 100% gay people is about 2-3% of the population. Of course there are those that are bisexual or may have homosexual tendencies while living a straight life. Those that live a straitght life I think should be considered as straight, after all that is the life they've chosen.
3% is probably the high end of the population that is 100% gay.

My experience is that it's more than the single digits. I have no proof and can't back that up so I am speaking anecdotally.

Lots of "I guess" "I believe" and "it seems to me" here, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to criticize the people who've at least tried to use scientific methods.

If you want to guess, look at it this way. Suppose you went to a very large US university, say Ohio State. 50,000 students, 25,000 males. If 10% are gay, that means 2,500 gay men. Does anybody believe there are that many in Columbus, Ohio? All of college age, remember -- queer faculty and hangers-on don't count.

Or choose whatever collection of men you want. An airplane, 300 passengers, 150 men, 15 are gay. Possible, I suppose, if the plane is flying to San Francisco.

Or look at election returns. State after state is not only banning gay marriage but all rights and privileges for same-sex couples. (Like Virginia tomorrow.) Could they get away with that if 10% of the population were gay?

For comparison's sake, remember African-Americans are only about 12% of the population in the US. And they've had governors, senators, congressmen, Cabinet secretaries etc. They are taken very seriously by politicians. Nobody would dream of putting an initiative on the ballot depriving them of their rights.

But gay people? Forget it. We have no political power at all in most of the country.
