  • Hi Guest - Did you know?

How many have even HEARD of Eau Claire?

A better brand of beef makes a butter burger better!

Apparently Stephen Colbert thinks that the entire population of Eau Claire weighs more than the entire population of China. For the past week, friends have been posting a video of him mentioning Eau Claire on his show...

Yeah, it's how Cliff Huxtable (Bill Cosby) called his wife. "Eau, Claire!"

I've been in and through Wisconsin a few times, but don't recall if I ever hit Eau Claire...

I'm just wondering how many here have even heard of my town...

Um. It is a neighbourhood in Calgary. They have the "Eau Claire Market". And apparently somewhere else where you live.

It means Clear water in French, and theres a city called clearwater right accross the bay from where I am.

And the traffic there is a BITCH!

I've known of Eau Claire for a very long time, Kev, and I've even been there quite a few times over the years, though not recently.

Is there any place up there that has a good/yummy version of "all the lake perch (or walleye) that you can eat"?? That's definitely a shortcut to my heart, LOL - and perhaps further encourage me to take a long cut [opposite of a shortcut] to Eau Claire next time I'm in the area.

Of course would be great to meet you as well, though I assume you'll be in M-SP at the JUB meet in about 28 weeks.

Sorry Kev, but I never heard of it. but then I never get out of Illinois, Wait a minute, I did go to Atlanta last summer. Damn I need to get out more.... Since Riverrick won something for knowing where it is, Do I win something for not knowing where it is.

Oh wait, you were at the JUB meet 18 months ago. THAT'S out of Illinois!

You "never" get out of Illinois? You lie! LOL :p

I have indeed heard of it. I met an academic from there at a conference; we corresponded for some time afterwards. I've never been there, though.

When I read the subject, I thought this thread was about a new dessert - some variation or improvement of an eclair.

Eclair, Wisconsin? The home of delicious cream-filled, chocolate covered pastries? Yes, I've heard of that.

We often stop at Randy's Restaurant off Hendrickson Drive over by the motel row. Yes, I know it's a Baptist place, but the food is good and cheap.

Actually, my cousin is married to the daughter of the owner of Randy's! I love the food there!

I took the Greyhound through Eau Claire many times going to and from college in Appleton, WI.

Beautiful town, actually. Always wished I had time to explore it more.

eh, it's mostly bars.

But I'm sure you knew that, considering every other town in Wisconsin is mostly bars...

Aw. Really? I have images of sandstone cliffs and green hillsides and trees . . . I'd hoped that kind of quaint beauty was reflected inside.

Milwaukee is the only town in WI whose bar-per-block ratio boggled my mind. Really, it does seem like there's two per!

I suppose we do have some of that, but I don't take enough time to enjoy the beauty. Big Falls is always fun, AND it has a nice landscape.

Try La Crosse. It has the most bars per capita in the entire world, with over 350 bars.

Been through many many many times.

Spent a number of nights there, too. One time back in the Stone Age (Kevbo was still in Diapers) I was on a one week swing Minneapolis > Duluth > Chip Falls > Eau Claire when I got a horrendous head cold in the Falls and the company authorized me two extra nights at the Ho Inn in Eau Claire because I felt so lousy.

Eau Claire. A lovely place to be sick.
