Spitting is gross.
Splitting the verb by inserting an adverb. For instance, splitting the infinitive "to go" by inserting "boldly", as in "to boldly go where no man has gone before", rather than "boldly to go". Another example is inserting the adverb "already" in "have gone", the present perfect form of "to go", as in "have already gone", rather than, "already have gone right out the window".
It is considered bad grammar to split verb infinitives, but everyone does it. Never mind.
