  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

How many times have you been in love?

Twice, for me. I'm not sure either were reciprocated; I was very much friend-zoned by #1, and #2 I couldn't figure out.

Everyone said I was blind to #2's wanting me, but when you repeatedly get told things like "I'm having so much fun being single right now, it's amazing to see all the things I missed out on while I was with him for seven years and have so much more time for my friends and to just do things that I want to do!" you're not entirely sure any advances will be appreciated.

It still burns every time I think of either of them, of course.

Once.

We went out together for five years, and have been married for coming up on 36 years.

I've been infatuated by some others of a male persuasion, but that's a different thing altogether.

I'm not even sure how to fit love into a definitional box.

Romantic love? Once. On its own, love is overrated in my opinion.

Once I think. It was unrequited but I'm pretty sure it was either love or me being a desperate loser.

Having said that, how do you know you're in love?

Not a question with a simple answer. I think many members would reply that you just know. Many or our more eloquent members may well be able to reply with a logical thought out dissertation.

But honestly I do believe that the only genuine reply is that you just feel it and know it for what it is.

When he is old and has wrinkles and has lost his hair...or gained weight ...or is sick...and when you look at him you think he is the most beautiful man you have ever seen...

Obviously you are quite right here but I don't think the poor boy is willing to wait 40 odd years to find out if he is really in love with the guy. :D

This

When I met him he was 17 and the most beautiful man I had ever seen, at least to me. 34 yrs. later through sickness and going through all of life's upheavels my love for him never wavered. I fell in love with him the first time I laid eyes on him. You'll know. Nothing is more important in your life than he is, not even you. I was never happier in my life than when I was making him happy and contented. With both of us feeling the same way it was a wonderful life.
