How much is "Too Much" car?

My friend has a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire. 4 banger. Pay close attention if you have a heavy foot. At 100K miles, it runs like a dream. And it scoots. You'd think it had a turbo with the amount of power it has. Puts my Escort to shame.

Real fun was taking that Dart (170 slant 6, 3 on the tree) over Lookout Pass. Hit the bottom at 75mph and you're in 2nd gear and 25mph halfway up. It had better mileage in town than my '76 Honda.

Lookout Pass? Awesome!

Was coming down the Cumberland Gap, TN, on our way to Atlanta, in the '85 Plymouth Voyager. Suddenly, fashing lights in the rear view mirror!

After talking about our respective ages, the Highway Patrol Officer, really "kewl" younger dude, told me he'd clocked me from the other lanes, and crossed the median to flag me down. (I hadn't even seen him.)

The speed limit was 65. I'd been doing 80, and didn't even realize it! :slap:

I had one of these back in '72, mine was red. Not a bad little car.

My first car was a 1959 Ford, had a 352 v-8, fastasssombitch

OMG, that Honda was my dream car when I was a widdle kid. Lucky dawg!!!

As luck would have it, I went for a walk today and bought a new car. 2005 Acura MDX Touring. I wanted something higher to get in and out of easily and it was a steal. 210,000 kms and I paid only $3000. Me very happy.

They run about $50,000 because, well, that is the limousine model. :)

I had one of these prior to the Honda

OMG! I always drove gay cars!

The expense of vehicle ownership was too much for me. Years of low wage jobs did me in. If only I'd had the money I make now back in the old days!

Anyway now that I'm car free I'll continue to call for rides when I need them or just take the bus. Public transit is inconvenient and slow but it's better than walking.

My father had this, the 128 Abarth... as a kid it looked like a Ferrari to me. Looking at it now is kind of funny, but it's still cool :)

The FIAT 128 Abarth remains one of FIAT's best cars. During my student days I owned a FIAT 128 3 P for four years, without problems.

Safety, mileage and fuel economy have made cars to be far more expensive than when I started driving back in 1969. In those days I made $80. on a 40 week before taxes. My first car then was a 1959 Ford, it had around 80,000 miles on it and cost me $75.00.

Today a 10 year old car with comparable miles would run between $4000-5000. for a low end car. Not many of make that kind of money in a month, let alone a week.

As the price of cars creep ever higher one bright hope for future affordable cars is the rise of the 3D printed car.

Haven't heard much for over a year but I'm sure the 3D printed car will be in all our futures very soon.

My present car, it's not the convertible and is dark blue

Those came out just AFTER I'd leased my Sebring Convertible. I rented a few, for special occasions, because I was thinking that would be my next car. I LOVED them!

A buddy ended up buying one because of his experiences with the ones I showed up with.

I was waiting for the convertible version.

When that finally came out, I wasn't as thrilled as I thought I would be.

Just as I was ready to pounce on a PT sedan, the Dodge Caliber came out. It seemed a little more "naughty"/rebellious, and I ended up with one of those instead, turning in the Sebring after only 18mo., way before it's lease expired.

Really liked the Cruiser, though. "Missed it by THAT much!" _ Maxwell Smart

Most cars today feel "soulless", made by and for computers.

Mopar made cars that had character, like they were designed by actual human beings.

Mopar makes great "hobby" cars IMO. I love their cars from the 50's/60's/early 70's, they really are brilliant designs and they sure did know how to make a great big block V8 back in the day.

Their newer bread and butter stuff like the minivans, Avenger, Jeep Compass, Neons, PT Cruiser, older gas powered Dodge Ram trucks, just ugghhh. Most(not all) of them are cheaply made pieces of junk. They've been doing a lot better post-bankruptcy in terms of quality though, and there are a few like the Challenger, Grand Cherokee, Wrangler, 300c, and Charger that I'd be proud to have in my driveway.
