I want to get a new laptop and the Apple MacBook comes with 1 gig of SDRAM standard. 2 gigs is an extra $75, and 4 gigs is an extra $200. Now I know I don't need 4 gigs. But mostly I just use it for internet and music, not heavy gaming or video. Am I good with 1 gig or should I go for 2 just in case?

Go for 2. If you want more, go buy from a 3rd party and install it yourself. It's quite easy.

I have 2 macs and I would deffo opt for the 2 Gig. It made a noticable difference for me.

Go for the 2Gb. Even with 'just' internet surfing you'll have a few browser windows open, iTunes in the background, checking your mail, a messenger service running. 2Gb will give you much snappier system without worrying about how many application you have running at the same time.

2GB should be a minimum these days. If money is no object take the 4GB, but 2GB should be more than adequate for normal use.

Ditto. Apple rips you off for ram they charge you mostly for the installation, the actual hardware is really cheap. I'd suggest buying from a 3rd party and installing it yourself, I added an extra 2gbs of ram myself to my macbook pro and it only cost me $40. It's fairly simplistic and there are tons of tutorials online if you have any trouble. I mean why dish out an extra $50-$100 just to have them install it for you?

And I would highly suggest installing at least 2gbs, your computer will run faster and whilst running multiple programs it's pretty use over a gig of memory.
