Well, I have been retired from full time work for many years. I worked for the same company for over 20 years. We got 12 days of sick time a year. But abuse of those sick days were not encouraged. I probably did take 1 or 2 days as sick days (each year) when I was not really sick, or not sick enough to need to be taking the shift off. However, I suppose after the covid outbreak, it may no longer be acceptable to come to work when you are sick.
There was always a staff memeber that was suspected on abusing sick time, but it's hard to prove. Mental Health sick days were not allowed unless you got a doctor to sign off on the sick time needed. I'm guessing I used around 6 days a year in total of sick days. But twice during those years, I took 4 or 5 weeks (20 or 25 days) as sick leave due to a medical issue. When I retired I had like 110 days left in my sick-days-bank. We did not get paid for unused sick days when you retire.
