... Members make cultural references I don't get and users do not feel very technologically advanced for an online community....

Definitely some of that going on - lifestyle, culture, etc., and not just due to age. (Do you know who Scooby-Doo is? I can think of at least one person in this thread who knows why I said that.) I'm in the older part of the crowd and it took a while to get used to interacting online - not the technology, which I'm pretty good with - more the etiquette and style. Things like using emoticons. I learned to use a computer when floppy diskettes were 5.25 inches (sometime 8") and actually floppy, and a 20 MB HHD was big. I love the diversity here. We gravitate into groups, forums and threads, but can also mingle with others.

I know who Scooby Doo is. The network executives keep on canceling him and then bringing him back from the dead. "What's New, Scooby Doo?" was a new series of episodes from 2002 to 2006.

I have Scooby Doo's beanie baby.

41.

I can remember the first day of MTV (when they actually played music videos) and the first shuttle launch. I also vaguely remember Howard Cosell announcing John Lennon's death during a football game.

I also remember the fabulously fashion-challenged 1970s ;)

Back in my day...

Good post! ..|
