How old is your computer or

The computer I used to use is a Windows 98 desktop (still have & use for a few things, but its so old its not good for much anymore)
The computer I'm posting this from is a Windows 7 (so even it is getting a bit dated)
Windows 10 (& above) is flat out malware(spyware)
Indeed, all those RAV, Teams and all that shit you do not need, but they can't live without... but one always has the laptop for Secret Services

In 2020 I bought a refurbished 2013 Dell. It is old, but it is like new and way more powerful than I could ever afford new.

Just waiting on new HP laptop for home to arrive on Tuesday

The one I have been using at home finally crapped out, so I will now have more memory and a much higher quality screen.

The computer at work is about 2 years old and just upgraded to Windows 11, which seems to be working well.

I did the same buying from the Dell Refurbished site in April 2015. I found a heavly loaded business class PC and took advantange of the 60% off Easter holiday coupon. It is common for Dell to have 40% off coupons good for a couple of weeks, but on most holidays they have a 50 or 60% off coupon good for 24 hours. Only the "brain box" is used (these are off-lease computers that are 3 years or less old) and the other parts (cables, keyboard, mouse, power cords) are brand new.

I bought my laptop in hopes I will be able to get into photography and photo editing. I saved a lot. Refurbished will be my go to from now on.

I built my desktop computer in 2009, so it's 13 years old. I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and now to Linux. I've replaced a few peripherals and the monitor over the years, but so far the computer still works. I can tell, though, with all the stuff on it, I'm going to have to build a new one before too long.

....Two nights ago I was configuring a new Lenovo full size desktop because I bought my open box iBUYPOWER gaming machine (for the i7 cpu....not gaming) 11 years ago....
Until a couple of years ago, I was using an iBUYPOWER machine for features unrelated to gaming. It ran for two years after being partially disabled by a lightning strike. To keep Windows 7 and some other desired features, I replaced it with a used Dell Optiplex desktop (another mid size tower that I think first came out in 2012)-- age unknown. I have another old Dell desktop that the previous owner allowed to "upgrade" to Windows 10. I'm in the process of setting it up for the eventuality of my Optiplex dying. It also gives me some practice with Windows 10.

The weirdest thing is that the newest will have a 'touchscreen'

Like I am ever likely to smudge my screen with fingers??????????!!!!!!!

Oh, I missed that when I got my current one.

Sort of surprised how many people mention "desktop." I sometimes half think I'm the last person on earth who uses a desktop computer!

Damn, just realized/remembered I have one of those devices "inherited" from my brother right beside my good old HPavilion  an unfairly neglected touchscreen Vaio

NOPE! If I had to give up a PC, I'd give up the laptop before I would my desktop. I like my two large (well they used to be considered extra large) 24 inch monitors, my full size keyboard and mouse. I do have a very good laptop, but I'm a heavy user that likes to have several tabs open in each of 2 or 3 different browsers (Firefox, Edge, and Chrome). Plus an email program and a calendar program, FB Messenger (a stand-alone program) and maybe and data backup program doing backup in the background. I run all these at the same time.

Mine is an apple computer, bought it in 2015 or 2016. So it 6 or 7 years old, and still gong strong.

I don't remember how old my lap top computer is but probably about 7 or 8 years or older. I do have a desk top computer that I use for a hobby of mine and it is not connected to the internet. The desk top is considerably older.

I quickly used a library Internet terminal yesterday. Really depressing how much faster that is than what I'm using. Probably time to upgrade...but all the sources of used hardware I once depended on have dried up. I suppose I could buy new...but I'd hate to break my long record of nothing but thrifty used computers.

Desktop, because it sits on a desk, is about a year old, waiting for the first big upgrade on Windows11 to install it. Monitor died last summer, new bigger one arrived the next day. Hubby gets really good deals through work and they have a great IT guy as well. I get why many of you prefer a laptop, tablet or phone but when you're used to something that you like, you stick with it, especially when you're retired and home a lot.

My God. I have had my new laptop for over a week and literally have had no time to get to get it properly set up and my old drive transferred.
