How should violent criminals pay their debt to society?

I just finished watching the entire 40-minute video. I have to say that Clayton has turned into a very mature and emotionally stable young man (at least from what we can see from the clip). They never did say what eventually happened to his father and step-mother, after they served their sentences.

As for Clayton's teenaged step-sister who never truly freed him: I can understand if she were too afraid to get caught "releasing" him. She was still a child herself, after all.

I have zero sympathy for child abusers or molesters. None. I think they should be forced to experience exactly the same abuse they performed on a defenseless child. A real life "Bully Beatdown" if you will They should be removed from society permanently and never allowed to have contact with children again. If that means forced sterilization then so be it. In extreme cases, like this, it wouldn't bother me one bit if they were executed. I do not want to pay taxes to feed, house, clothe, provide medical care for and protect scum like them. They should be purged from society and left to rot. I wouldn't lose a second of sleep if these so called parents were executed. Not at all

But there is no suggestion or evidence that either suffered from mental disease, as both were tried without insanity defenses and both received maximum sentences.

The law deemed them to be competent and guilty of malice, not mere negligence.

They were apparently sane and mentally competent.

Makes one wonder about our definition of "competent".

Well I was addressing Mikey's concept of whether or not someone was reformable. Once you exclude the most severe and untreatable mental disorders that can be scientifically or clinically diagnosed, with most of these abuse stories you're more realistically dealing with a repeated pattern of abuse that probably goes back generations. I'm not sure how anyone would determine whether or not anyone can be "reformed" when someone is clinically "sane" but still very sick.

I know, the term as it concerns courtroom proceedings applies only to whether or not an individual is capable of comprehending the proceedings and understands right and wrong.
