To add to this. I think that many gay people look at the concept of families a little differently than non-gays. For example, I have friends that bought a larger home so that they could take care of a 98 year old lady who would of ended up in a nursing home if they did not. She is not related to them. She was a neighbor at their own place. She is part of the family now. Boy, what would these stragiht people do without us...haha... :)

What a great thread, that is great that you did that. What great things I've been seeing here on JUB.

CJ, first thank you for starting this great thread of love and understanding!

Gays often do NOT get the credit they deserve for ALL the charity they/we provide

I know we are always keeping in the background whenever we give to charity (tzedakah).

We are taught from the very beginning of our lives that we MUST give to the less fortunate than ourselves and do it in a way that does NOT give any large credit to you whereas you're given a reward for just doing what MUST be done for your fellow human being....

.......and, when you combine that with us being Gay, then we re-double our efforts and reach out to others who need us........from food, clothing, a place to sleep or as in our thread starter, introduction into the Gay community so one is NOT alone.

Thank you my Gay brothers on JUB for ALL of you mean a lot to me, and if I have NOT told you this year, let me say it again NOW....

We love our JUBBERS!!!(*8*) (*8*)

Where do you guys live??

Sorry I'm just kidding but if I had to look up gay community in the dictionary, you would be there. It's a shame that in general gay people are often too self absorbed.

Great post - years ago on AOL there used to be a chat room called Ask Gay Guy Anything and I remember how the newbies would come in and ask questions and the veterans were always there to help. I made many great friends from this and it is one of the reasons I do my podcast on gay issues and talk with members of the GLBT community to share their stories so that the younger people today can learn from us and not have to go through the bs we had to when we were that age.
