I need some advice on attracting a guy.

I live in a mostly white environment, and my region is not too big on interracial relationships, especially gay ones. But I do know there are some individuals who are open to dating a person of color (like myself). I even dated a white guy a few months ago (that I miss).

So, is it even worth trying to date here in the Southwest? What's your take on my situation?

Thanks!

You can take the casual route, which you appear to be taking already. Going to the gay parts of town, striking up conversations, getting to know people. It takes a while, but as an added bonus, you can get plenty of non-sexual friends in the bargain.

Or you can go the direct route. Put an ad in a gay dating (not hook-up) site. "GBM seeking other gay men, RNI, for friendship, possible LTR."

I live in Dallas too and have kind of followed your posts. You are a little uptight guy. When I first came out, I didn't like the guys I hung out with, so I had to find a different group to hang out with. The most important thing is to be the type of person you want to be with. It will be a struggle, but you can meet lots of people online and at the gay bars.

There are plenty of organizations to get involved with to meet people. If you are a nice person, they will invite you to their social events.

Here is a great article about a study on luck (you seem to think you have none). If the link is gone because we can't post links, PM me. http://www.rd.com/advice-and-know-how/how-to-get-lucky/article27664.html

As you can see, always looking at the bright side is a trait of people with luck. You are in a big city, you could be in some po-dunk town in Oklahoma or something, so you need to grab life and take advantage of what you have here. There is plenty for you in business, personal and relationship life. But it won't fall into your lap, you will have to go get it.

That's right. Set yourself a steady foundation (social gatherings, making friends) and then you'll be able to see who's out there.

Whether or not its worth it depends upon how much patience you have. Yes, minorities can find men of quality, even in all white settings. But it comes with the caveat that you'll always be an enigma to them. They're never going to quite understand where you're coming from, figuratively. You may eventually decide to move to an area with more minorities, but there's no harm in testing the water a bit while you're where you are.

I'll definitely give it a try. I'm getting some pictures done tomorrow, and I can use some for posting on (non-hookup) dating sites.

I'm willing to get these Dallas guys a chance. They can't ALL be close minded, can they?

I've found homosexuals to be more racist than straight people (reiterating in my experience"), and of course they make comments so casually, not realising that my white ass is actually Jewish. So...good luck, you'd better move to some other place, as you can. Although that might not help, people used to think that the Castro was a refuge for all gays, but even there, racism is rampant and open.
