And don't worry about it. Wrap the towel around your waist and act like it's nothing. Because it is just that, nothing. If you're worried about looking at their gear, then don't look. If you talk to someone, maintain eye level. And don't shave. Trim if you must, but don't shave.

I turned 18 just before the start of my senior year. I am not the stereotyped pre-college student. I am more of a bookish, naive person. I am the type of person that sits in the back of the class and never talks but when the test comes, I always score in the top 5 percentile. Growing up without any male figures whats-so-ever has had negative effects. My dad left when I was 3. I have many friends but I am closeted to pretty much all of them with the exception of a girl who really doesn't take me seriously anyways. Before tomorrow (the start of swim class) I have never had any interactions with men outside of my family and even then, the interactions were very casual; just riding in the car with my uncles or playing football with my cousins in the back yard. I have no clue how to react to others and "act straight" because almost all of the people that I hang out with are women. Hopefully with the help of my fellow JUB'ers, tomorrow will be much less awkward and I will finally be able to fit in with my fellow "man". Thanks for you help guys!

But you still didn't explain why you're worried about others seeing you naked. Most guys are so used to being in a change room that they don't notice the naked men. The only ones looking at your package are the ones who wanna get their hands on it.

I was asking myself the same questions when I was in grammar school.

I was the same when I was that young...I grew up around women and was scared shitless about being naked. I was terrified of havong to take a shower! Gawd, if only i could go back in time and enjoy myself.

Let me tell you now what you will figure out on your own many years from now: Everyone else is terrified of looking at you and if you're cool about your nudity the other dudes will respect you, not look down on you, cuz they're as scared as you are.

Apparently all the young dudes these days think they're supposed to shave their pubes, but in reality shaved pubes are a disappointment for many. Now, it feels good, and some like it, but it's a personal thing, you need not worry about whether you're supposed to shave them or not.

I understand your fear but you will even realize your own self later that it doesn't matter and no one gives a shit, except the guy who think you're hot and want to check you out.

You could even be like me and discover that you were actually quite the looker in highschool and could've had a great time, if only you weren't so self-conscious.

So your fear is understandable but you will be doing yourself a HUGE favor by forcing yourself to overcome it instead of covering it up. And when you do, post some naked pics of yourself to prove it

My advice in such situations is to just brazen it out. Act like you don't care, and eventually you won't.

I too was scared shitless of changing rooms when I was in high school. I was so scared, in fact, that I simply skipped gym for a whole year, and went shopping at the mall instead. When they caught up with me, they made me an IWE (inside work experience I think) for the gym coaches, so I got to work in the office instead of taking PE... and as a result, I got to watch other people changing while I sat fully clothed in the equipment room doling out towels and looking up forgotten locker combinations. Heaven!

Still, if you want to take gym, you have to get over it. And the only way to get over it is to hold up your head and go right to it. I've been in bathhouses and skinny-dipping sex-parties and all sorts of places with my clothes off, even though I'm gymnophobic to a startling degree (I don't even like when my doctor sees me with my shirt off), I just act like I don't mind, and after a while I get over that first little burp of fear and don't really care.

Oh, and if you spring a boner and someone has the temerity to notice it and comment on it, just tell him you were thinking about his mother. Fun will ensue.

I agree that you should als just mellow out. Being too hurried will make people think that you're either trying to hide soemthing or that you're way too conservative about the whole thing. Yeah. most highschool guys are rigid about changing together, but the guy who always hurried out or changed in the bathroom seemed kind of weird.

Also, depending on where you are, a lot of guys, if they're friends are weird about being naked around each other. My two friends on the swim team and their cousins would just parade up and down the laocker room, holding a towel right in front, hips and ass exposed and waving to everyone else. All a joke and all in good fun.

Even when I came out, they still did it but quipped knowingly that even though the other guys groaned and covered their eyes, that it wasn't going to work with me.

As an experienced swim teamer, that's my advice. But I don't recall ever pitching a tent just from seeing my schoolmates' junk, no matter how nice/hot/awesome they were.

No, do not shave your pubic hair. Make sure none of them are peeping around the edges of your suit, but don't go completely bald. If you find out later that everyone else does it, then knock yourself out. And I would recommend using a trimmer, not a shaver. Razor bumps in your Special Place aren't fun.
