Just some thoughts. Others might not agree.

Dead giveaways:

  • Selflessness - reason - he values you more than himself.
  • Gifts - reason - friends don't usually do this and it is love if nothing is expected (i.e. sex).
  • Surprises - reason - he wants to stand out and impress you for the long term.
  • Alone time - reason - friends don't usually seek exclusive time.
  • He flat out says it - if you believe him.

Ambiguous:

  • Eye contact - reason - he could just be infatuated, same with sex and cuddling.
  • Wants to spend a lot of time with you - reason - he could just value your friendship
  • Compliments you a lot - reasons - obsequiousness, envy, low self esteem.
  • Interest increases with time - this is also typical of many friendships.
  • Romance - reason - watch out for the players. It could be love in combo with the above list.
  • Exclusivity - reason - like above some guys like multiple exclusive people under their thumb, and over their beds, but like the rest of the signs in this list, it is plausibly also genuine love.

I've added a few.

the only ones that I'm suspicious about are Romance and Exclusivity.....as you note....good possibilities, but just as easy to find someone who is a jealous, possessive, sociopath....

Of course....there are those who fall for a guy because of his intellect and personality....and that kind of love may be agape and not entirely based in physical desire...(although that can be part of it too)....but that incipient love may almost approach the depth of a heart to heart bond as well. I think the Romantics had this nailed.

This could all be infatuation or obsession too.

Does he swallow? That's true love. ;)

Yea those "dead giveaways" seemed more to me that they were dead giveaways for longing moreso than being in love.

good points

now i know, ok i have to go and make babies LOL

I can tell by the way he looks at me. It is all in the eyes.

Good pointers.... But be careful of guys who are only attracted to (or infatuated with) your lifestyle. They are enamored by the things you partake in such as career, travel, education, associations or perhaps the car you own. So once the sexual curiously has been satisfied, they move on.. I've been guilty of this myself and I've also entertained it in other guys.

Does he value what you say and think? Does he spend as much (or more) time listening to you as he does talking about himself and his feelings.

You're all gay, right? So Cher is your No 1. icon, so you already know...

How can I tell if he loves me so
Is it in his eyes?
Oh no! You'll be deceived
Is it in his sighs?
Oh no! He'll make believe
If you want to know if he loves you so
It's in his kiss
That's where it is
