How Trump Starts Martin Luther King weekend by Attacking John Lewis

Some thoughts from a few prominent fellow Americans:

"It's telling, I'm afraid, that Donald Trump treats Vladimir Putin with more respect than he does John Lewis," tweeted conservative commentator Bill Kristol.

"John Lewis was endorsed by MLK. Donald Trump is endorsed by the KKK," offered Marcus H. Johnson.

As independent Republican presidential candidate Evan McMullin tweeted: "While you avoided the draft, John Lewis risked his life for equality in America. You'll never even dream of such selfless patriotism, Donald."

But is this the most effective way of dealing with him if you don't like him or his policies? As "little Marco" Rubio found, no one can win by descending to Trump's level. He's the master of it and will remain so. As I believe Michelle Obama recently said, when they go low we need to go high.

I was responding to #50 with #52 above.

I did say that I would have preferred Trump to respond more diplomatically or not respond at all. The man is, however, not rational in this regard. And he loves the attention that attacks and his response brings. Best not to encourage him.
