How was your Thanksgiving?

Not trying to kill any moods...but my Thanksgiving was horrible. I ended up staying on campus at my university for this 4 day break because it was too expensive to fly back home...and it was just 4 days so I felt it wasn't worth it.

I haven't done anything all day and my Thanksgiving dinner was me eating by myself...I had a left over burrito and a granola bar.

Happy Thanksgiving!

On top of that...I dont have a car on campus, and the city buses arent coming up here as usual because of the Thanksgiving Break...thus I cannot do any Black Friday shopping :(:(

I did a bit of crying when no one was around---it was a lot to take in once. Men and women there with their partners, mothers and fathers there to support their kids--I felt very alone for a while until I started to get something to do.

And a few people told me I's cute, btw--:D

It's an empowering thing isn't it. To see something that shatters the stereotype that straight, family, and that sort of thing can't support gays and that gays are different. It's amazing to see a family support gays. I wonder what that must have been like for my sister when she went to youth pride with me.

Nothing wrong with crying either. IT CLEANS YOUR EYES :D

I'm glad you found something to do and had a good time. Haha. I'm not surprised.

Aww. I'm really sorry Cali. College is just hell like that sometimes and depending on where you are it can feel real isolating. And with the way everythign is money is tight for everyone.

Do you have any friends on campus or anyone who can drive you or who is gonna go do some black friday shopping and someone you can tag along with. I'm sure they wouldn't object.

Also online deals are becoming pretty good. Check online before 1pm for offers on blackfriday and you might get some better deals then in the stores.

And just think. Once you get out of college you'll have that degree that everyone is after. It might seem bad right now. But it will pay off later. And I'm sure next year you don't have to be alone cause you can plan it out.

Hang in there

Thanks for your words gdude :) Unfortunately, no one I know is here on campus with a car. Pretty much everyone has gone home that I know. Soooo, no shopping for me I guess.

And about planning it out in the future...I don't think that is happening. I think EVERY Thanksgiving I will be staying here at the university. but after this year I will have my car...so it shouldn't be too bad for the next two Thanksgivings.

Thanks again for your encouragement! ..|

it was extremely better than last yrs, last yr i was drugged out of my mind, haha, this was the first thanksgiving in a long time i was sober the whole day..

That you know.

It never hurts if you hear a bunch of people are going black friday shopping to say, "Uhm I don't have a car or any transportation and I need to get some shopping done is it okay if I tag along"

Because of the nature of college life and people trying to make friends or wanting to make a crowd or just being friendly. Now not everyone is like that but some. I guarantee you it might work. And nothing really to lose. People understand that in college you might be low on money, not have a car, or have some kind of disadvantage.

But you don't have to do something you don't want to do.

Well I'm glad you're getting a car. I diddn't have one when I was in college too and it was really hell. Hopefully that will change in December.

Oh no problem. Good luck. And maybe next year you will make some friends who stay on campus for thanksgiving and you can spend it together. I bet you aren't the only one who feels alone and left out too. I'm sure some other kids on campus might be in a similar position then you.

Even if it doesn't seem that way.

Better than last years Thanksgiving.

I just spent the day with my mom and watched The Jacksons Story on Vh1.

OMG dude we did that today but included were my sisters, brother, aunt and cousins. I also watched the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade today I never miss it. I also wet to vist my Dad with my sister and brother. I hope everyone else had a happy one.

Bad, not what I expected at all. The worst one I could remember. I also slept a whole lot but that was probably the best part. This was one year it wasn't about family.

Mine was nice. Went with my Partner to friend's house (another partnered couple) and met one of the couple's Father and Stepmother, and another friend was there.

I would have liked to stay longer, but we had to leave at a 'reasonable' hour, as we left the elderly little doggie home--too cold to take her in the car--they have 3 BIG dogs and two cats that are bigger than the elderly dog. It would not have gone well had we taken ours.

We had a wonderful, "thankful" Thanksgiving!

Alas, it did rain; but dog-gone-it, we have NOT had any measurable rain like for over a year (desert & drought)so we are truly blessed!

We ended up ordering a great tasting smoked turkey and I did all the trimmings from soup to nuts and all in between and pardon the "brag"; but everyone said it was tasty!

Ya know, we have a lot to be thankful for even though our economy (the world) is in the pits; we still have for the most part, our greatest thing......our health and our friends and family to support us along the bumpy ride....

So, lets all say prayers of Thanksgiving (NOT just religious ones)but truly heart-felt ones where we are all in it together, blessing one another for all that we DO have; NOT for what we DO NOT have!

Thanks JUB for you are one of those blessed ones!(*8*)

Diddn't you post that in the other thread.

Did you really want to spend thanksgiving alone?

Christmas is coming up soon. You can make up for thanksgiving.

I think I did post that in another thread. That's what you get when you are so tired, bored, and sick at 2 am in the morning. - uh, I mean working, not on the internet or napping.... ;)

I didn't really want to spend it alone (well a small, small portion of me didn't). But then again, my family and I don't really get along too well. It starts out nice for awhile, then we fight and they all turn against me........ ugh!

I spent my Thanksgiving day and night with my "clients" (I guess that is what you call them). I worked at 2 different group homes for adults who are Bi-Polar and Schizophrenics. They are cool to hang with, so it is good.

Things were pretty good, considering my racist nephew and my sister's Guatemalan husband were in the same house. There were a few times we had to tell my nephew to shut the hell up, but it was better than last year.
The food was amazing. Mom's are the greatest cooks. Had way too many pies though. 10 pies, 1 large tort and 18 people.

It was great. The University of Texas Longhorns beat the Texas A & M Aggies 49-9 to stay alive for the National Championship.

It was a great day. I cooked for three days - my family was there as well as the BF. It all came out great except the oyster stuffing which was soupy?! Damn, I can't seem to get that right.

The angle food cake (the BF's favorite) was the best ever (everything from scratch) and we watched a couple movies, "Journey to the Center of the Earth" -- not so good and "Ironman" -- terrific-- afterwards as soon as we could move our bodies from the table.

Most of my family is out of town visiting their "other families". We got together last weekend.

This year, I stayed home, did some chores, had some hot dogs and sauerkraut.

I spent most of the day on the couch wishing I was dead... I caught some kind of flu, my head was screaming, all of my joints hurt, I ran a slight fever, and was generally miserable.

On the plus side, it got me out of the Big Family Ritual as well as the labor-intensive food preparations... my aunt is taking chemotherapy, and the idea of bringing an immunocompromised woman and a flu-ridden man into the same room seemed like a bad idea... and I wasn't allowed to handle the food, either.

So I stayed home with my best friend Caroline, had bockwurst and yams for dinner, and watched the House marathon on USA. If not for the pain and discomfort, it would have been quite pleasant.

Haha.

I am the opposite of that at night :D

I'm sorry you feel that way. I feel that way with my famiy sometimes and I'm sure, you, and I, aren't alone. But at least ya spent it with people. That's what really matters isn't it?

Oh. That must have been interesting. Well I hope you enjoyed the food and being around some people at least. Even though I think it would have been great to make the food I wanted for thanksgiving. It would have been pointless to have no one to share it with. Maybe that's why it's important to spend time with people on thanksgiving or just at dinner. Well that and other reasons.

Anyways yeah.

I hope everyone had a good thanksgiving. BUT IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN SALMON OR LOBSTER DAMNIT :(
