How would you deal with this nightmare?

Unfortunately, you have to treat kids in a way that you're not allowed to treat other adults. The kid has realized this, and now he's pissed off... but he's still a kid, so he still needs to be controlled. That's unfortunate for both of them, and there's not a whole lot you can do other than wait until the kid is mature enough to handle himself more or just beat the resistance out of him (not literally, of course).
 
I guess we now know why some animals eat their young.

Were I to have done this, my father would have beat the ever-loving shit out of me.

I can only imagine what the future holds for that little shit. My guess is he grew up pampered with no consequences for his actions.
 
If he is my kid,
a cane and whip until he is quiet and respectful to adults.

First thing I would do..take away all of his things and basically tell him the only thing he will be doing is schoolwork.
If that fails, it's boot camp time or some other form of residental placement.
One thing's for sure, he wouldn't be staying under my roof anymore.
 
He has learned from a very early age that he is in control. Not only has he learned it but it has been reinforced repeatedly by his mother surrendering the control.
Children need discipline and structure and they need to be lead by word and by example. They need boundaries so that they learn how to practice self-control as they grow.
This is the role of the loving parent.

Spoiling a child rotten, as he is, is a form of child abuse, in my opinion.

Raise up a child in the way he should go and when he is older, he will not depart from it.

I would slap him right the fuck back. I would restrain his arms and tell him he is never going to do that again...and ask him does he understand...and he will say yes.

It would never happen because I would not ever let it get to that point of disrespect.
 
wow; some tough stuff; I also watched the segment with both of them talking to Dr. Phil. That kid will have serious issues. I have to say it was like watching a younger version of one of my coworkers or my stepfather. They also get (or got; stepfather is dead) easily angered about small things. My coworker will blow up about really small things; he doesn't hit; I think he at least knows better than that. It's sad really. I think it shows a lot of insecurity and immaturity. The mother needs help too. Was there ever a followup?; since this appears to be from 2008.
 
This is why I will never have kids of my own. That fat SOB would had been thrown off a roof speaking to me like that.
