Well, the fact that it's a college town, and in the greater LA metro area - those are two advantages. On the other hand, it's not also a sleepy suburban city known for it's gay scene either! If you do an internet search, there is like one gay bar.

On the other hand, CSU Long Beach is your better bet! Long Beach is an up and coming (and larger) city, more centrally located, close to the ocean, and has more of a gay "community". For example, do an internet search, and at least a dozen gay clubs/businesses pop up.

Also - there is CSU-LA...

Thanks for the headsup ! I aleady got into a Grad program there and its limited so I am pretty much locked in there. I hope I have better chances at meeting a guy there then I have had in NY.

I hope I will actually be able to date there.

Re: Hows the gay scene at Cal State San Bernardino

Sorry, but San Bernardino is far out in the poorer, hotter, smoggier suburbs of Los Angeles. I would not consider it a "college town" by any stretch of the imagination, but rather a relatively unpleasant suburb that happens to have a college within the city limits. It's mostly families and there's not going to be a whole lot to do there gay or straight.

Of course there are gay people everywhere and it's possible to drive to gayer places like Palm Springs, San Diego or Los Angeles. The school is also mostly a commuter school in that pretty much everybody who goes there drives in each day. My understanding is that there's not really an on-campus social scene or heavy student neighborhood nearby.

I just wouldn't expect too much, but as with anywhere a lot of it'll be what you make of it.

I sure hope there are some gays in my program !

Well, even if there aren't any, keep in mind that Greater Los Angeles has many millions of people. Get out there and find the ones you get along with!

You are about 90 minutes from West Hollywood and about the same for Long Beach......you should have picked Cal State Long Beach or Fullerton if you wanted to be closer to the Gay Scene....sorry.
