ok a really stupid sexual encounter turned more stupid when he called me up and said "Oh btw i have hpv..."

So now what.... I've already vowed no more sex with non-boyfriends.... but do I just go though the rest of my life telling everyone i might have sex with that I might possibly have hpv? (as far as I know there is no test to see if you have it as a male)

We're discovering that HPV is much more common than we realized. Between 25-50% of people test positive for exposures to one or more HPV types.

Research is saying that some people clear the virus and are not contagious but there is a portion of the population who either become latent carriers or show later signs of infection such as cervical or anorectal cancer.

Given your uncertain status and assuming you show no active warts, this falls under the safer sex rule of "Pick your partners wisely". So, there's no need to warn you partners that some trick from your past claimed to have HPV.

I concur with KB that no confessions are warrented...

Avoiding stupid encounters is a good idea, but your vow to not have sex at all unless it's with a boyfriend is a bit extreme. Try to find the mature middle ground.

Up to 50% of guys who sleep around have HPV...and many if not most don't know they have it because they have never showed any symptoms. With that being the case, use protection especially during anal sex (that is where many guys have it) even with a BF. The bottom line is most people do not know they have HVP and most guys cheat...just a fact! :grrr:
