well, we continued our discussion today regarding orientation. and it went really well, she went over a lot of important points and humanized GLBTs, as well as dispelled a lot of ridiculous myths.

i even threw in my 2 cents when we were talking about genetic patterns. I contributed with, "I am the fourth gay male on my dad's side of the family." and explained who else was on that side.

i'm a bit surprised that she didnt put me on the spot (i wouldnt mind at all) but i'm glad people seemed receptive to the discussion. hooray!

and it felt good because i felt confidence in being able to declare it openly...|

I was just thinking that as I read your post.

You were really out of the closet today. I'll bet that DID feel good! ..|

Thanks for the update dkon. I have to say I think it's pretty impressive that no one said anything about your contributions, that they were just accepted and the discussion just carried on. That's promising in my book.

actually, it DID feel good...liberating in a way, and almost confidence boosting.

yeah! i was a bit surprised no one bothered to ask me ANYTHING at all.....so i guess it's either they're taking it well, doesn't really matter to them, or are still feeling awkward about asking....who knows, LOL

It really IS !

And, in spite of all the Sh** you may have to put up with because of it,
it all pales in comparison to the 'sweet relief' of just being yourself.

Like this HUGE weight lifted off your shoulders.

Well, you know. ;)

Josh

congrats! im looking forward to taking that class next semester, from what i heard its a lot of fun.
in my gen psych course we just started sex but don't have much time to spend on it, even though it is clearly the favorite subject matter.
its fun knowing that out of the 8 guys 4 are confirmed gay in my class, including myself.nonetheless, the class is awesome and face no discriminatory problems.

Deciding to take human sexuality was probably the best decision I've made in a long time. I really think the course should be required somehow, ah well, i recomend it to all my friends/co-workers.

We just wrapped up the chapter on gender issues and boy did I llearn so much. Aphrodites are no myth and are a lot more common than one thinks... there were a few other eye openers too.
Take It!

joshua, it was kinda like lifting a weight off my shoulders, definitely!

aaronp, it's a fun class, and since you'll have a handful of other gay guys, it'll be good for class too....do tell us how it is!

ryan, isnt this an eye-opener?? the class should be a requirement!

i'll bet you'll gets tons of questions one they have a private audience with you.

davy, LOL...i would be more than happy to answer their questions one on one. i mean, it'll be nice to actually witness people being eager to learn.

danno, great jaerb! putting ignorant folks in their place is one of the most rewarding things in college, LOL.

I would guess the professor is very pleased with the fine contributions you are making to and for her class.

I am glad to hear that your professor has made this subject a major part of her curriculum being presented in the class. And your participation and those of others are really helping her with her presentation.

How sad that more student are not participating with more questions to seek out an even wider discussion then you, other class members and your professor are attempting to do. And yes, you are right. A class of this nature should be a required class that all students have to take, regardless of their manjor or minors.

Well done dkf, i am very proud to hear of what fine contributions you are making to the class and the degree of satisfaction it is bringing you personally.(*8*)

Well Done.:=D: :=D:

Buzzj = freeedom! freeeeeedom! freeeeeeeeeeeEEEEEEDOOOMMMMM...LOL, i think i've made an important stride on a personal and interpersonal level.

Croynan = thank you! i think the silence in class can be attributed to the discussion shattering misconceptions and preconceived notions (the optimism in me says so, LOL) and that they're kinda taking stock of what they've known and what they just learned.

If someone actually asks me something, i'll let ya'll know :gogirl:
