It is UNACCEPTABLE in the 21st century.

The message would be better in more text -- clear text, not that fluffy stuff -- less "inspirational" music, and some documentation.

What hunger in Africa boils down to is they haven't grown up and learned to use condoms. Thank the Roman Church for a lot of that.

Hungry human beings is unacceptable in any century.

While we who live in the developed world are facing an epidemic of heart disease, and diabetes there is the thought that there is sufficient food to feed the entire human race if more fairly shared, and as a result we might notice the waist lines of people shrink.

Africa has its own very many political and social problems to confront.

The hunger epidemic is caused by old mindsets of Eugenics that would have the supposed "less dominate" species be made sickly and eventually die. Make no mistake, this could be fixed very easily but there are certain people in positions of power in this world that do not want this to happen because they are criminally insane...and in power and wealthy. This is of course a very bad combination.

The genocides in there is also a part of a long term and on going Coup d'état that must have been ignited long ago to cause a persistent instability in the region as a form of self destructive governance that just doesn't seem to quit. Will this ever stop? I hope so....life is valuable and no doubt, many innocent lives are lost in this fruitless battle to survive.

SO what would you do about it Lola?

there has been world relief and Aid on that continent since I was born a long 40 years ago and probably longer. The Bush Admin tripled US aid relief dollars going to Africa.

What should be done and how?

WRT Africa, this is a pile of crap.

The root problem of Africa is that they're still fighting out old tribal dominance issues but trapped inside artificial borders imposed on them by colonial powers who never gave them the chance to develop on their own. That sort of situation makes high birth rates still desirable, while keeping distribution systems undependable. There have even been situations where food aid provided during a civil war has been bombed and/or burned by the opposition -- hunger warfare. Yes, it's "persistent instability", because people tend not to care about artificially-formed "countries" and stick with their familial, tribal loyalties.

If the entire world's birth rate had gone to 2.1 per couple two decades ago, there wouldn't be a hunger problem at all.

Ideally?

Let the tribes redraw their boundaries to end the foolishness of tribes that hate each other crammed into single nations, tribes that span big watersheds being divided, etc.

Stop sending foreign aid to governments. Foreign aid should go to the natural leaders of the people, the chiefs, the elders, the ones the people look to in their own social structures. Checks should go to governments only if for a government project directly for the people, meaning infrastructure as opposed to sports stadiums.

This was once the standard pattern when those countries were under colonial rule and worked very well for the masses, with a sound (colonial) government administration to ensure that there was a fair distribution.

This practice ended with independence.

The tragedy is that in countries such as Zimbabwe the people have become poorer, hungrier and even lack the basic rule of law since being granted freedom from colonial oppression.:D

The issue with that solution is the issue at the root of humanities warlike nature. Resources. Not everywhere is a garden spot in Africa. So whomever gets the short straw will fight whoever has the resources for control.
