HUNTING (Why Kill Wild Animals?)

… if you eat meat or Soy burgers you kill off species to eat food.

Killing soybeans is a lot like killing a nauga for its hide.

Always amazed me that some vegetarians would eat eggs. I figured death was just a matter of timing for some.

An unfertilized egg will never turn into a chick, no matter how much time elapses.

I wonder how many fifty year olds would be out there with a buck knife against a mountain lion.

Mountain lions rarely attack humans, unless you corner them or make them feel threatened. However, they are curious animals. I had one follow me for a couple days, but I was in his territory, which was far from any roads or settlements. The only weapons I carried were my walking stick and a knife. I did shoot a few creatures with my camera though. ;) Bears actually worry me more than cats. They are less predictable and learn to associate food with [careless] humans.

Naw... I mean when you clear off fields to grow the damn things. I believe there were hunter gatherers and they did a helluva lot more gathering than hunting. But I think that applies to eating a ton of thing that taste good and are palatable right off the bush.

I mean what in the hell is the point of making soy based burgers or ribs or whatever meaty creation that is being non-meat reproduced... a soy based turkey for thanksgiving? That is what doesnt make sense to me.

Still there is not much different between that protein and the protein derived from the flesh of an animal. I think there is a balance and by far we should be eating more green veggies and simple foods that you can simply eat with no preparation.

I was using that as an example of a beast that man would still hunt but that would be a helluva lot harder without gun powder.

Something dies so that you may live no matter what, though my spouse swears some of the healthy snacks she eats are made of Styrofoam.

I’m guessing you don’t appreciate blow up dolls either. :)

Eggs are actually rather unique in that they contain an abundance of amino acids that are readily available for metabolism.

Do you eat meat?

If you do, you should stop. You plainly don't have the inner strength to do it yourself, and if you wouldn't do it yourself, you have no business eating any.

And if you've never killed an animal, you have no standing at all to comment on whether doing so is profound or mystical.

Nope, I don't eat meat. I also have every right in the world to comment on how ridiculous it is to call killing an animal profound or mystical. That's like saying because I've never shot heroin into my veins means I can't have an opinion on doing it... I have never stolen an elderly woman's purse just for the fun of it but I still think it's wrong.....

I have NO time for people who kill animals. regardless of how they label it. As for eating meat, sure i do! but i'm not killing the animal.... It's already dead. besides if didn't eat it, someone else would.

There's a HUGE difference between eating a dead animal, and going out and killing one.

Well, by that method you should believe that killing an animal when hunting is profound and mystical -- after all, the reason you have for judging heroin is because of the experiences of heroin users, so the reason you must have for judging hunting is from the experiences of hunters. And for many hunters, especially the first kill is in fact profound and mystical. For myself, it was as I began to squeeze the trigger for my first buck: suddenly, all those weird native American prayers and poems about hunting made sense. After the first? Mostly it's the hunt itself that is profound and mystical, having to make myself one with the forest, aware of scents and sounds I normally overlook, seeing all the signs of the passage of animals.

Some people never have that experience, some people get it every last time. I knew one guy who didn't experience anything like it until he brought down an eight-point, a buck who'd escaped the hunters at least four years running. The guy said, "I took out a king", as he looked down at the magnificent head. After that he was more respectful to all living things.

So you're one of the kind who enjoys having animals die of disease or accident or natural predators, in pain and agony.

BTW, hiring a killer just makes you a coward.
