I'm going to keep this stuff laid back.

If you had the chance to be a king, but it's the 1400's, you can't have TV or any videogames or fucking anything. Would you do it anyway?

I numbered this for a guy I like on this site. I hope he likes it.

The thing about Kings in the 1400s, or at least English Kings, was that they generally met unfortunate ends.

Richard II - Murdered in Pontefract Castle in 1400
Henry IV - Died 1413 possibly of leprosy
Henry V - Died 1422 possibly of dysentery
Henry VI - Murdered in the Tower of London in 1471
Edward IV - Died in 1483 probably of pneumonia
Edward V - Assumed to have been murdered in the Tower of London in 1483
Richard III - Killed at the battle of Bosworth in 1485

In the circumstances, I think I'd prefer my life in the twenty-first century thanks very much.

I considered Indian royalty, but the Mughals hadn't yet developed their most interesting lifestyle.

Where else might it be good to be a king in the 14th century? China? Japan? Arabia?

well, you can pass the crown even though i would be kind of tempted to have that type of power where i have complete control over everything, everyone, and can do whatever i want even changing the course of history. who wouldn't want that? i would probably start wars with countries for fun and out of sheer boredom.

Ancient Greek habits also extended in to the 14th century. With the arrival of the Ottomans in the 15th century all the man, to man fun disappeared in a frenzy of Muslim dislike for unseemly Greek practices.

In 15th-century Europe, I think I'd rather be an ecclesiastical ruler, an archbishop or cardinal, rather than king. You got more money, better living quarters, high art all around you, and the very convenient ability to absolve the sins of those with whom you sin... that would be a great chat-up line, wouldn't it? It's good to be the king, so I would take it, I reckon. I assume we could have our choice of kingdoms, because if I'm being offered like Siberia or Greenland, then I'm out.
