  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I almost died today while trying to save a kid from drowning.

E.D.:

I too add my kudo's for keeping the kid's head above water and allowing the others to come help you both out!

Do NOT beat yourself up for NOT knowing the water(s), for there's always a "trick" for getting out of currents/rip tides; but the key is knowing the local water conditions...

For future reference, if you get into a situation where you see you canNOT make it against the current(s) then just swim parallel to the shore or what-have you and pretty soon you will reach an area where the current is NOT as strong, and you can swim in to where you want to be.

Again, I'm sure the young man you saved is certainly happy you jumped in or at least saw him struggling; for if NOT you, he truly would be dead!

There's NO sugar-coating of this for sure!!!!!

Good work, now back to getting that all-over tan!! lol(*8*)(*8*):kiss:

You didn't know.

That makes you all the more courageous. It means all the more. You literally jumped into a situation that you had no idea about, driven by the simple thought that you had to save this child.

And you did.

You are fucking incredible, and let no-one tell you different.

Rip tides test swimmers all the time.
I am glad you did the good thing and risked it all for someone else.
Mostly, I am glad that my friend ED came out alright too.
Thanks for a wonderful good deed to save the young swimmers life.
If I am ever in such trouble, I hope to have someone like you to
notice and act on my behalf. The good news, "YOU DID NOT DIE!"
Well done!

EternalDarkness you should only feel what you genuinely
are and that is a true Hero. You risked your life to save
another and that is truly commendable. God Bless you
man you should get a medal for that.
Hell if I lived closer I'd give you a reward of my own lol.
All kidding aside, you are are a real hero and I totaly
respect you for what you have done. And you also now
know why you went to that part of the beach today.
