I don't like it, but it's close to my home.

Now, let me make a confession, I put an answer in a thread (I think it was Cormac's) about if I worried about terrorists or was worried about getting killed by a gun nut. The thread asked something like that.
My response was to the effect that I would not live my life in fear, yadda, yadda, yadda.

One of the symptoms of my disorder is hyper-vigilance. So, when I go anywhere, I look for escape routes, exits and items that might make good weapons should the need arise.

I used to sit in church wondering if a gun nut would burst through the doors and start shooting. I had the same thoughts about Walmart.
This was long before the recent shootings.

Now I wonder if I was being hyper-vigilant, or just a little more savvy than I give myself credit for.

Thoughts?

I just have them deliver now, not so much from the fear of terrorist but bumping into yummy mummy's who seem to litter the place.

Years ago after hearing about people being killed in a fire I started to take notice of where the exits are in a theater and some other places. It's so long ago that I have forgotten to do that some times.

Good for you. Keep on doing that.

I guess it's good to be cautious. But of the thousands of Wal-Marts this gun nonsense only occurred in one.
I do like the good quality of Wal-Mart's bakery and meat departments.

I'll probably be going to Walmart in the next few days...
(then likely again on black [strike]friday[/strike]thursday )
And yep a Walmart in Colorado...
(but not the one someone shot up a couple weeks ago .. or the one in Alistair's link)
Am i afraid?
Nope.

I do the exact same thing...but mine is in case of a zombie invasion....

Don't laugh..I am serious......

After watching Night of the Living Dead in the 1960s....I became obsessed with a zombie invasion.....and everywhere I go I figure out an escape route...it is a VERY OLD habit that I never even bothered to try to break....

In reality...I avoid people who I think are dead inside....or the ones whose soul has vacated the building.

Nothing wrong with being aware of your surroundings and options. Most people are oblivious and reactionary in life.

I do the same thing driving...what is my "out" always looking three cars ahead anticipating what some jackwaggon could do vs waiting for brake lights to pop on in front of me before I start thinking about making a decision and my options.

Now, if that hyper vigilance dictates how you live your life and consumes you with fear and suspense rather than being able to be in the moment wherever you are...then it may be overboard needing attention or help.

The outfits worn in Walmart scare me more than the terrorist!
