  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I am just curious, who here hates Christmas?

I don't hate it, but is not a holiday I celebrate and there is nothing to do on that day. Even the TV has nothing to watch.

It's just another day for me. If I had kids (ha ha!) then I would celebrate it.

I love shopping for gifts but i hate the crowds. I like x-mas but i hate the week afterwards because in 2000 my cat died right after christmas so me and the reason why there is a x-mas haven't been on speaking terms since.

I have to admit I love Christmas. I am sitting and writing by the lights on the Christmas Tree and am going to be hoping to repeat, several times, the "gift" I got at night from someone next to the same tree! My kids and I enjoy the holidays and they will join me next week and we'll do some shopping, eating, site-seeing and going to some gay clubs!

Even though I'm atheist, I love Xmas because I get two weeks off from work. Thank you, Jesus!

I find it rather odd that the thread starter asked for reasons, but never gave any himself.

I'm surprised to see how many of you really are so bitter about this holiday. I'm not a big church goer myself, but I do enjoy the the season and the time spent with family. I have to say, it was much more special as a child, then it is nowadays.

I hate the time of the year, for some bad past experiences with Thanksgiving/Christmas. This time of year brings up bad memories and anxiety connected to those memories.

My family (besides my siblings) is messed up, both my parents, definately my grandparents, and I don't like spending time with cousins, aunts and uncles (a total of 13), besides 3 exceptions.

Finally I hate the cold weather, stress of the end of the year, and the commercialization of the holiday.

Just call me Charlie Brown ;)

I find Christmas stressful also, Roland. Its really changed for me since I was a kid. I try hard to manage the stress and expectations and try to stay one step ahead of it.

I find that I have to play the game to some degree or it will get the better of me. So this year I started buying some gifts before there were any holiday ads out, to make me feel like I had a choice in the matter and like it wasn't being crammed down my throat. That took away the stress of finding a gift in time and I was able to actually think a little more clearly about the whole process.

I don't do Christmas Cards anymore because I didn't mean anything I was writing in the cards. I was just trying to get them done and in the mail. So I decided to be honest about it and chuck the whole thing. And I feel good about that.

My work keeps me busy and I use that as an excuse not to do a lot of holiday party stuff except for the major family get togethers. By keeping that to a minimum, I find that I do enjoy the few moments of Christmas that I attend. But its a very fine balance.

I've always hated christmas, when grandma was alive being the one person that had a real influece over my actions, I'd go along and be nice and take part in christmas family things, since she died my mom wants to kick me out, my little cousins think there is something wrong with me and my uncles have gotten into a better relationship with me which of course means my mom hates me even more, but I'm happy like that.

I hate Christmas more than I could possibly say.

If they outlawed it, I'd be happy as a pig in shit.

This year, like every year, I'll spend Christmas the same way I always do.

I'll lock the doors, draw the blinds, yank the phone out of the wall, disengage my internet, turn out the lights, climb under the covers of my bed and pretend that it's not happening.

Very peaceful.

Oh bullshit.

I can understand being annoyed and hating the "season" of Christmas -- the cold weather, the crowded stores and loads of traffic.

But to draw the blinds, etc. out of hatred for the DAY of Christmas? That's lunacy. I'd say you're overexaggering your hatred of the holiday, because that's what the cool kids are doing nowadays. It doesn't make sense, because the DAY of Christmas is actually something all Christmas-haters should be delighted with. First, most places of employment are closed... so there's no shopping hustle and bustle, no cars honking. It's quiet and peaceful, everywhere you look. It's also the FINAL DAY of the mad rush I love known as Christmas, so you should be rejoicing rather than being a gloomy gus.

But I love this holiday.

I ABHOR christmas....absolutely with every fiber of my being.....

Since i was 9 years old christmas has been a time of bad news.... every year something dreadful happens on christmas in my family...at 9 it was when my parents announced they were getting divorced and its been downhill from there...

I hate seeing the buttons that say jesus is the reason for the season.... no hes not do a little research people... christmas was a holy day long before the christians or the jews or most other religions were even born....

I hate seeing santas in the mall and the mall being jam packed... I hate the salvation army always ringing their damn little bells... I hate having to listen to christmas carols every day at work ...especially the damn charlie brown christmas cd....

I hate everybody trying and fighting over being politically correct...

to me christmas is the representation of all that is wrong in the world.... people thinking that one day of goodness will solve their problems...that capitalistic spending sprees will make everything good in the world...

BAH FUCKING HUMBUG on that crap....

although I am happy that I now live back up north and can enjoy a snow covered holiday... that makes me feel a little better...this year at least....
:grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr::grrr:
