I am going in tomorrow afternoon to get some shots in my spine to see if it will help my back at all. :-({|=

Last time I got shots in the spine it hurt like crazy. I am not looking forward to tomorrow.

Oh man, that sucks.

Is it the same kind of shots you had before? I can't say I've ever had a shot in the spine, but I can only imagine how much that would hurt.

I hope you'll get through it with even less pain than last time. I know what it feels like to dread something. (*8*)

No they are different. The first one was a spinal tap. After three try’s and with a nurse putting my face in her breasts, I was crying too much and couldn’t take it. They decided to stop and do it another way. This time they are giving me a mix of anti-inflammatory and some kind of steroid. The doctor told me they are pretty much the same feeling though.

If this does not work we are going to try implanting a neuro stimulator. I am kind of excited about maybe getting a neuro stimulator.

Hopefully I will be able to walk more with one of these.

I had a spinal tap tap that was all but painless, sorry for your troubles and good luck tomorrow. We're spending the morning at a nuclear stress test for Rick, seems there may be a blockage.....it's always something!

Yeah, then you can tell people you're bionic.

Yeah.

I am worried about flying though. TSA already gives me shit because of my real name. I don't want to be stripped searched every time I fly. I have already had to do that before. Not fun.

Stay strong my friend, I'm in awe of all that you've endured. Is it possible for you to get the stimulator sooner?

Yeah.

haha ok this thread is about you and not me but I'll just tell you that when you're a bald white guy with a lot of tattoos, you almost always have to get "randomly" pulled aside for "special screening." You get used to it. I don't know what your real name is, but I'm sure you'll be fine.

Aw, well good luck...

...if that's okay with you, thinking of your back...

...maybe shoulder hug? (*8*)

Thanks.

I am on Medicare. My doctors have to do things in order and on a timeline. If I had my way I would skip the shots tomorrow and just get the neuro stimulator, but I can't. Shots are cheaper than the implant.

When they took my bone and marrow sample I was given a whiff of gaz which sent me out for the duration of them sticking in the needles.

No pain nor discomfort and the recovery was instant. I just told them I wouldn't have the thing done if they didn't give me something to make it bearable.

Tell them you are scared and ask if you can have something.

Turns out I was lucky. My doctor told me they would numb me up. What they really did was put me to sleep for 20 minutes. To me I never fell asleep, but they told me I was out. Must have been some good stuff.

Thanks for the posts.

I am assuming that the pain is similar to the pain when cortisone is injected into a finger joint to combat/cure "trigger finger."

I had that done a couple years ago, and it was about the most painful thing I ever experienced - I likened it to having my finger cut off. It was temporary, thankfully (and it did cure the "trigger finger" after about three days).

Good that you were fortunate enough to be given a "work-around" and really not feel it.

What is wrong with your spine?

I have a few slipped discs and scar tissue rubbing up against the discs. The discs also pinch the nerves to my legs, but mostly my left one. I also get massive muscle spasms.

I was told I have a back of a 70 something man that has worked hard his entire life. I have been ordered not to lift over 10 pounds for years. A few weeks ago that was lowered to 5 pounds.
