Lots of people used to do it years ago, when we were all like 15/16 years old, because at that age we found it harmless and comical - And we'd only to it in our circle of friends; not to any random number, just to point out..

It's a little after 9PM here, and I just received one, for the first time in years - It said "Withheld number" which I don't normally answer, but figured I would this time.
I did, to find it was some joke as making a prank call at my expense.. At first I couldn't hear very well, so I thought that it might be a JUBber phoning me, out of the country... but then whomever it was, called me by my first name (more than once), which no-one does, as I dislike it..

Wouldn't tell me who it was, so I hung up.

They phoned again, and I answered and asked who the fuck it was, and they continued to make random grunting noises, and the I heard someone in the background that said "Tell him to get the fuck out of our country!" .. :eek:

If only I knew who said it, because it was said with hate. :(

Does anyone know if there's anyway to trace a call, even though it was withheld?
Because, it really was a horrible thing to hear..

I'm a bit upset, to be honest.. :(
 
That's funny. My refrigerator is running just fine as far as I can tell...

Technically all calls are traceable, but this information is very difficult to obtain. If the problem persists you will need to contact your service provider and report that you are getting nuisance calls (or what maybe malicious calls), a trace would then be put on all your incoming calls. I had a similar problem a few years ago, the calls were being made in the early hours of the morning. They did stop after a while. I wish you good luck.
 
So it is someone you know that doesn't like you? I would say if it keeps happening record the calls and then you can block the number or have it traced if they are harassing you.

Without sounding like twat, I don't know anyone that dislikes me.. And I certainly wouldn't give my number to somebody that isn't my friend, either!

Over here, we can do a 'Star 69' (Asterisk 69) and it will give you the last number calling, but I don't know if it would work for withheld numbers. (Can we do that over here?)
 
We have 1471, which is the same at *69, except it's for landlines only, and they're calling my mobile.. also, it doesn't work for withheld, unfortunately.
 
I'd just always look to see who was calling first. If it was a blocked call, I'd not answer it - sooner or later they'd get tired and give up...
 
Report it to your cell provider, J ... uh ... Mills. And, do keep answering when they call. Try to keep them on-line as long as possible. Keep your ears open for any more distinguishable sounds. Keep a script (notes), log of time, and duration. Play into their game until you have enough to hang their asses!

Could one of your friends have lost their mobile or had it stolen and someone got your number that way? I had someone "stalk" me once making anonymous heavy breathing phone calls and suggesting various sexual acts. Trouble was they were at inopportune moments where I couldn't really respond until one day myself and the apprentice were having lunch in the van when he called. Well this time I outdid him, I suggested far more lewd things than he came up with and he never called again. Also the look on the apprentices face was priceless.

If I were you I just wouldn't answer "number withheld" calls.

With everything cell phones do these days, is there a way to block their number from getting through to you?

(Sorry. I'm stupid when it comes to cell phones. I've never used one in my life.)
 
I've never understood this form of terrorism, or why the recipients put up with it.

There are two ways of dealing with this, ignore any "unlisted" phone calls or call your provider and have them trace the source of incoming calls because you're being harrassed

Yeah, my phone logs that information anyway, and I have the calls recorded. They stopped at 7 calls; and left 2 answerphone messages.
It was quite distressing to be perfectly honest, cos all I wanted to do this evening was relax. :( At least they've given up now!

I'd probably heard by now, if someone lost their phone; plus I'd be listed as "Mills", not my first name, which they kept repeating.

I recognised one of the voices in the background (there were a few), but I just can't lock on who it was! It was the person who told the caller to say "fuck off from our country" !
