For: Allowing my temper to birth some pretty hostile comments that, with a little creativity and intellectual dishonesty, could be interpreted as anti-white or reverse racist (hint, that's not an actual thing). I do find it ironic that I'm the one going on record to affirm that I do not hate "the other." There's a few here who I think their fingers would lock like they had carpal tunnal if they even tried to type the words "I am not a bigot." Bigots do exist, everywhere, there's no reason to believe there aren't any here. I am not one of them.
For: Allowing other members to provoke my ire and derailing topics into purse-slinging matches. I don't come here to cause trouble, I'm pretty sure there's at least one mod who would love to hit that ban button if such were the case and I violated the rules in a manner that would justify a ban. I've been banned before so nobody's "taking it easy on me."
What I'm not sorry for: Being outspoken. I'm black right now, gonna be black 5 minutes from now, gonna be black next week and in December I'll still be black and spoiler alert: probably next year too. Ergo, I'm going to talk about it when/where/how/why I want and nobody's gonna bully me out of doing so.
Is it my entire existence? No, that's a popular gaslighting technique from people who are made uncomfortable by a black man whose personality doesn't begin and end with his big penis.
Helpful tip: If you want diversity and for minorities to acclimate here, reflexively arguing every word we write or to posit that us addressing racism is tantamount to some sort of violent attack on whiteness you will find the opposite effect of what you desire.
Pro tip: Stop ignoring shit that happens to us that, were it to happen to a white gay person, you'd rally the troops and ring the alarms calling for blood and protest. I know exactly how you'd react if the cops served a falsified no-knock warrant to a white couple and shot/killed them in the process-- it wouldn't be "oh well, next news story."
I remember the song when Prop 8 passed. "How dare black people support this? How dare they not relate to another minority's plight?"
GOOD QUESTION. HOW DARE A DISENFRANCHISED GROUP NOT RELATE TO ANOTHER MINORITY'S PLIGHT?
Anywho, I do regret that I do not have my receipts in my purse due to the JUB archive being destroyed, but anyone who's been here for years knows that I talk just as much about the bigotry the rainbow gang has to deal with. Shocker: nobody calls that spam.
So, if we can let bygones be bygones i do intend to be more thoughtful moving forward, I do not intend on catering to people who have made abundantly clear how they feel about people with dark skin. If you don't like my topics, hit the X button, scroll past, write a letter to your governor cuz I can promise you he/she/they care more than I do.
Confession: Although I am clearly as close as any corporeal being is capable of coming to divine perfection, I am still a work in progress. I've not totally ascended to my god form so be patient with me.
