Let it work for you. I came out a good bit later than you. I have led a charmed life. For me it happened quicker than I was ready to accept it.
I met my partner at one of our favorite restaurants. I knew him in the community already, and he knew me. I was bold and asked him on a particularly busy day at lunch to join me at me table. He not only responded positively, but added, that he would really like that.
I was innocent, it was all so innocent. We agreed that we were often alone at lunch and would agree to have some joint lunches in the future.
The rest is history, for he swept me off my feet, and eventually into our bed together. It was months unfolding, and I was a mess at times, wondering how I would try to explain this to children who hated that I had divorced their mother, but we got through it.
Now it is many years later. I love him, and he love me.
