  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

i burnt myself...second degree burns.

Yikes! Mikey, is nauseousness a side effect of the antibiotic? If it isn't you'd best check in with your doctor. You know, play it safe.

Oh gesh...that is horrible.

please try some gingerale or sprite, and maybe something with some fresh peppermint in it. It may help settle your stomach.

Please keep us posted on your progress. (*8*)

Wow... sorry to hear about your accident, and i'm glad that you got the proper medical treatment.

Get well real soon!!

well...i went to target (3 blocks down the street) and got sick there. good thing i was close to the cleaning isle, i snagged a bucket. sucks to have been the shelf guy in the next isle over cause i had to tell him about it.

Pity you weren't near the Clay Aiken CD display rack instead. :-)

But seriously Mike, if the pills are making you *that* nauseous,
then you really need to talk to the Dr. about switching you to another
kind.

The last thing you need is to throw your electrolite balance off kilter when your body is trying to heal itself.

Excellent advice Dr. Josh. :-)

If you throw up a lot, make sure to eat foods that are high in potassium, like bananas, potatoes, etc. When you throw up, you lose a lot of potassium and it is important to keep you potassium at a healthy level. Also, drink a lot of liquids. If you are not high in colesterol, it may help to eat some salty foods as well to help absorb some of that water. That is, if you throw up a lot...

yeah it's the erythromycin stuff. the first side effect listed is naushia. ;) i called the ER this morning and asked if they could call something else in. they said a doc would look at my file and call something in. that was at 10am it's now 6:34 pm and no call in. :( but the last dose didn't make me sick so maybe i'm ok now. i went into work for about 3 hours for a conf call no one else could take. leg feels better so far. not as sore today. i got these little burn gel things at the pharmacy (while i was checking to see if the ER called anything in) and they are for burns, they have steril water in them to keep the burn moist and lessen scaring and speed recovery. i'm going to try that on part of the burn and see how thta goes tonight. it might not work. we'll see.

thanks for all the comments! (*8*)(*8*)

Gawd, the state of health care in our country is just awful. :(
Even with insurance, we're being treated more and more like cattle.

At any rate, I hope you're feeling better, Mike. Perhaps the Dr. can find
time in his busy schedule tomorrow to tell his Secretary to phone in a new
'script before he hits the golf course. :grrr:

Wow, that sounds painful. I'm glad you weren't injured more seriously, but it sounds bad enough. I knew this move to CA was a bad idea, young man. Now, you get yourself back here right now. We miss you and obviously need to look after you. Give me a call when you arrive.

well i felt bad calling the ER anyway, it's my fault for not having a local doctor. 2 friends of mine back in herrin are both doctors and they hate having to deal with "no doc" patients. i know ERs are supper busy and understaffed so i wasn't really surprised that it wasn't called in. and nausea was a side effect of the pills anyway. but i've had another dose this evening and i took them with campbells vegetarian vegetable soup and no nausea again so i think i'm ok. that’s what i ate at lunch when i took that dose.

i found these neat little pads at the pharmacy called "second skin." they are little clear pads that have water in them and they keep the burn moist while allowing it to breath. they are kinda neat looking. so i'm trying that tonight.

i'll be heading into work tomorrow so i think i'll be ok. i found a doc so i'll see him or her i forget which it is now on monday for follow up. at least it doesn't hurt as bad.

thanks everyone (*8*)(*8*)

Mikey, I go away for a few days and you get yourself into trouble!

Seriously, lots of (*8*) (*8*) (*8*)

I feel your pain - I once had 2nd degree burns from trying to put out a fire in a big pan of oil (the oil tipped over down my leg). I was in hospital for a month and had 3 operations (skin grafts, etc). The pain was excruciating.

Get well soon, buddy.

/\ i'ts getting there. today was my first full day back to work since monday. i can see parts of the burn is beginning to get a scab so i think that is a plus. i'm kinda sore from having it wrapped up all day. i'm "letting it breath" right now. ;)

since i've been eating soup and crackers with the meds they've not made me nausus (sp?). so that's still a good sign too! ;)

i've got an appointment with a local doctor on monday so i hope that goes well.

Mikey...I am so sorry I missed this thread. How are you? Are you healing properly. I am very sorry to hear of your pain and suffering!!

Been there, done that (well, similar .... 2nd degree burns on my hand from hot cooking oil) so I certainly do sympathize! Big (*8*)'s and best wishes for a speedy recovery.
