Friday night the wife had what appeared to be a stroke, turned out to be a mini stroke or TIA. She has been under observation in the hospital and will probably get out tomorrow. A neurologist noticed some involuntary movement in her hands and feet and thinks that it could be a new neurological problem of some kind. I had noticed it as well and had planned on having it looked into.

I was quite impressed with the EMTs when they arrived and am happy with the degree of care that she has received at the hospital. I am very thankful that this was not a major stroke. She has cerebrovascular disease and suffered a stroke about 12 years ago that affected her speech permanently and temporally paralyzed her right side, about 80% of her function did return.

Anyway, that's what's been going on for the last few days, talk to you all later.

Chuck, you are a great and caring husband. Will she come home in a weaker condition? I'm glad you've had such a positive experience with the EMT and the hospital and staff. It helps with the stress of it all.

Sorry to hear of your wife's new problem, but glad to hear that she is getting such good care. Please take care of yourself as well.

Hold on tight to each other, hopefully calmer days are ahead.

If you noticed the movements before she might have Tardive Dyskinesia It could be related to anti depressants or medications she might be taking if she is taking anything. Hope she pulls through and this is just minor.

Thanks for all of your concerns and posts. She might come home today or tomorrow, they will run another CAT scan today to make sure nothing has changed in the last few days. Right now she seems not to have been effected physically by this but I won't know until we get back into our daily routine. In the past few years she has declined some in her ability to cut up food and she can't lift a glass or cup up to her mouth all of the way so we have to use paper straws to compensate. I have installed numerous grab bars and a power lift in the bath tub.

I will be taking her to see her primary care doctor and also to a neurologist for follow up.

Hope it all turns out okay. TIA's are frustrating.

My Dad had a series of them and then finally an major stroke that seemed to be impossible to prevent.

But my Nana had them as well and lived to be 99 before heart failure finally wore her out.

Hey sorry about your wife hope she recovers and feels better too.

Ain't life grand. My brother indeed has stage 4 cancer.I didn't realize he is 68.They took out a brain tumor the size of a half dollar on his frontal lobe. The Docs say they got it all.He is doing chemotherapy on a few spots on his lungs. He is at home though and in his own bed at least.

A friend of the family had a stroke recently and died at 77 years old. I knew her for 44 years or so.She was doing better until they removed a breathing tube and she couldn't breathe on her own.

Best wishes and prayers to your wife to feel stronger and to you as well.

I brought the wife home tonight, she seems weak and tired. You don't get much rest in a hospital, again, they did a great job.

I am glad to hear you are both home and resting. My late friend Lavirl had TIAs and severe arthritis. She recovered from each of them, but weaker. We had such a good friendship and laughed so much.

She loved Frito Chili Pie, so we'd occasionally make one and have the best time. Had a lake house that was modest but comfortable. Married the love of her life, then they divorced years later. She married her childhood sweetheart at that point. He died decades later and her first husband courted her and they remarried. Such an interesting life.

I know you have a lifetime of great memories with your wife. You two are blessed with having each other.

Best to you both.
