Movie tickets are so expensive. I can still remember when i was still a child when movie tickets were 10bucks a go. Where did the good old days go? Nowadays, you can expect to pay around 40 bucks to see a movie on the big screen. In my country, south africa, 40bucks can get me a big fulfilling meal plus desert at a restaurant. I would prefer to eat rather than be entertained. I dont know how it is in your country, but whats your thoughts on prices of entertainment now, and should they be charging that much?
 
I have an Edgars Movie Card, so I can see movies for R16, but if I didn't have the card, I would never go see a film on the big screen.

When I was 10, you could watch a film and get popcorn and soda for about R25, nowadays it is about R60 - R70.
 
I go to a great Rep Theatre here in my neighborhood.

Most movies are $4 with membership unless it's a special event.

and they have movies that you'll never find at the big movie chains.
 
The average movie ticket here is around $8.

It's the snacks that will eat you alive. I avoid them and usually only get a bottle of water which is still outrageous at $3.25 for 20 ounces.
 
If I can't see a movie at matenee, I go to the dollar theatre. If those two aren't options I may or may not download, can't say for sure...(shhhh...). Oh and always sneak food into the the theaters. Why wouldn't you?
 
I am in Phoenix and it's $9.50 here. That's why my bf and I plan it so we can sneak into a second movie after the first movie.
 
Unlike DVDs and CDs, at least movie tickets are still at the same level. For CDs in Malaysia, one has to cough up RM45. For a DVD, it costs around RM80. At least the movie ticket is still RM9. I just paid for Ghost Rider - RM10 - without the popcorn and drink, of course.

My first time I got to sit beside a cute guy who was watching with his father.

I haven't been to a movie in almost 3 years. Once the price of popcorn and a pop went out of the roof, I was like I can sit at home and watch it cheeper. and with big screen and seround sound its all good.
 
Here in Liverpool you can pretty much still see a film for £5 (approx $9). Thats why I go 20-30 times a year.

In the big Odeon cinema in London, it cost me £13.50 to see one. Thats a fucking disgrace.
 
I just don't enjoy movie theaters as much as I used to.
The price is a definite factor, but the sound is so earsplitting loud and then you have to contend with all those rude cell phone users. The seats aren't that comfortable either.
I have a fairly large screen HDTV with a good sound system, full cable programming and a close friend gives me NETFLIX membership for each birthday.
I much prefer sitting in my den in my rougies, with a refrigerator full of better and cheaper snacks and beverages.
 
Here, it's $6.50 just to see a matinee. I remember when a night showing cost that much. It's ridiculous. Then you pay $5 for a drink and $6 for a popcorn...you're paying almost $20 just for yourself to see a movie in the afternoon.
 
I hate movie theatres not because of the price, but because of all of the irritating people you have to put-up with. Someone is either talking, snoring, rustling, crunching, or some kid is screaming, or some cell phone is going off. Ugh, why pay for the irritation? Especially when practically everything is free nowadays.
 
But now a days most movie theaters carry bottle sodas so all you have to do is go somewhere else before you see the movie and buy a soda. thats what i do when i go to AMC cause they have coke products and i just stop somewhere and pick one up for the movie.
 
I usually wait until a movie comes out on DVD rental. I have a local store I go to and am able to prebuy my rentals at a cost of around $1.80 per movie for 2 days. If a movie is large in scope like Lord of the Rings was I like to see that on the movie screen (usually catch the bargain matinee, no crowds)and I love IMAX
 
I go to movies quite often but should cut back. At the newer theatre (with great comfortable seats), the prices are $ 10 and at the older theatre, it's $ 8 (Canadian dollars). I rarely buy popcorn or drinks because the prices are outrageously inflated.

The most annoying thing is the enormous lineups for both tickets and at the concessions, when my companions buy snacks. For the cost of the tickets, they should have plenty of staff on hand to keep the lineups moving but there are always closed tills.
 
I watch a movie almost every week. It's only about 2-3 USD (converted) here
 
I seldom see movies in theaters.

they usually aren't worth the head ache.

theaters filled with losers who yammer on their cell phones, talk to each other, yell at the screen, get up and walk around, kick the back of your chair and play with their lazer pointers.

I'll watch a movie once it gets released on DVD. In my own home.
