I don't have a problem with gay men as long as they don't force it on me!

Isn't this the very definition of homophobia?

And just because someone is gay, why is it an automatic assumption that he is forcing homosexuality on people? Just because you're a guy doesn't mean I think about sucking your cock.

^To be fair to whoever said that, I feel the same about people who are religious - practice it if you like as it is your right to, but I don't want to know about it or be exposed to it. So if that guy is homophobic, I must be horribly intolerant of religion.

However, I've always thought of it as live and let live.

I guess it depends on how it's meant. Sometimes "don't force it on me" means "I don't want to see it". Like if a homophobic person sees two guys holding hands or kissing in public, sometimes they get upset.

It doesn't bother me if I see someone carrying around a Bible or praying.

Religion and homosexuality are NOT the same because homosexuality is real.

Can one claim acceptance if they add on qualifiers? Nah.

Huh? Religion is real.

Religion is a belief system one has and practices.

Perhaps you meant to say that you believe God is not real. That would be a different statement.

My bad. I meant to say that God is not real, yes.

I don't understand that. Explain it to me I'm a little slow, I'm Eastern European duh.

If you accept someone/thing, you don't tell them how to act what to do. Whatever they are/do is acceptable.

If you think I am forcing something on you, you obviously do have a problem.

It's the same as a person who says they are sorry before they offend. A prefaced apology doesn't mean they aren't offensive.

Depends on what the person means by "force it on me."

If they mean seeing guys kissing or holding hands in public, well that's too bad. I don't care to see straight couples doing that in public, but I don't let it bother me. I don't see it as them pushing their hetero on me, I see it as two people that are fond of each other being proud to display it.

If they mean unwanted advances from guys, then that's understandable. Tell them you aren't into guys and move on.

thankyou

;)

I don't know if this is fair, otherwise we'd all be doing everything we accept.

I mean, I can agree to let all religions exist provided that a.) mine can also exist and b.) I don't have to practice them all apart from the one I choose.

Surely that is acceptance even though it has qualifiers?

Consider this: the "recruitment" issue, so many homophobes cling to when trying to muster hatred for homosexuality.

What if a butt load of us put on ties and go door to door every Wednesday (for instance) to spread the joy of loving thine fellow man. Kinda like the Jehovah's Witnesses do, canvasing neighborhoods for prospective recruits and trying to get their foot in the door with a quick pitch.

**dingdong**
"Hi, I like your shirt, is that a Tommy Hilfiger? Anyway, may we talk to you today about the upcoming Broadway shows this season? And let me ask you this, do you already have a sexual preference?"
**SLAM!**
"Damn, recruiting isn't as easy as you'd think! Maybe we should just follow L.Ron Hubbard's lead and publish a book that we can whore out on TV!"
"WAIT! Jackpot! There's a guy pulling into his driveway! Let's corner him before he can get into the house!"
**running down the street with tie flopping in the wind**

With a hottie like you showing up at my door, I'd say, "Come on it! I want to know more...and see what else is flopping."

I don't think it's necessarily the PDA's that "people who use the OP statement" object to. I think it's more that they (usually hetero men) don't want to be ogled/hit on by gay guys.

No, I totally understand U. Just don't attack people because their gay and you're good.

Whenever somebody says that to me, I just do the natural thing - give them a blowjob.

Well there are many different ways "as long as they don't force it on me" can be meant as has been said above.

Some don't want us to even look at each other out in public (homophobic)

Some don't want us to hit on them (homophobic)

And some don't want us to *keep* hitting on them after they have turned us down.
(I have seen this, you know some of us do this. "Aww its just a mouth" =p )

To be honest I can't see that last one as homophobic because I feel the same way about religion. I am not religious and have issues with it. But if anyone asked if I wanted to hear about their religion I'd politely turn them down.

Its when people start going fire and brimstone on me for not wanting to hear it that I respond...candidly
