Destructive lifestyles? Where the heck did I say that? I was talking about societal pressures, which is an encompassing term and includes bullying.

I have seen the first episode of the show, and I didn't really find it to be homophobic. TJ was outed while he was 15 in the whitehouse, which put immense pressure and scrutiny on his life. Some people handle things positively, and some people don't. TJ looks like one of the characters that doesn't handle it particularly well.

And if you haven't noticed; gay men aren't immune to having troubled lives. Let's not get overly sensitive here.
