Whereas, the actual data, or content of the internet, is what resides on hosts, or servers. This is what you see as the pieces of the backbone.

that diagram is not really useful to explain that. also that diagram is kinda stupid
anyway .. the isp is already marked, a host or server would be the same as any user in this diagram.
I'd be surprised if anyone could make an understandable diagram of the internet.
