  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I don't understand gays liking Kathy Griffin.

I saw her live here in St. Louis where she performed and filmed some of her "D-List" show about two months ago.

I was laughing so hard that I swear a little pee came out. She is freaking hysterical.

"When you faint, you don't just fall down gracefully. You show pussy."

:rotflmao:

I've seen her twice now, and she brought down the house both times.

There was a time that I thought she was using the whole 'my gays' thing as a gimmick and a marketing tool, but now I don't really feel that's the case.

It was announced that she'd be signing autographs in the lobby of the last show I saw, so I brought her a bottle of bubble bath in a champagne shaped bottle and a big scented candle in a bag tied up with a big rainbow ribbon.

I gave it to her, and she gave me a kiss on the cheek and said something to the effect of, "This is why I love gay men !".

I'll never forget it. :gogirl:

So why doesn't she slam on straight men if that is the case? Why make some stupid remark about "gaybies" and saying gay men are full of shit for wanting to adopt kids? Why stereotype the people she loves? I just think she's becoming part of the same system that she claims not to be a part of. How long does she think she'll remain on the D-list with her growing popularity before the D-list doesn't want her anymore.

I'm just getting a little sick and tired of Hollywood constantly snickering and making a joke out of what they think gay people are all about, and putting it into the minds of the American public (who will believe anything) that we all think the same. Shit, let's just have some more "Chuck and Larry" movies because gay people are so outrageous and hysterical. Love her or not, that is exactly where I see Kathy Griffin headed.

I saw her in Reno earlier this year. I love her :D

Some of the comments she makes are downright homophobic. The comment she made about gay men being full of shit for wanting to be fathers because it is the trendy thing to do left a bad taste in my mouth. She also refers to children adopted by gay parents as "gaybies." She says she supports "the gays", but expecting them to just be party people who only value partying and sex shows how much she sees the community as a stereotype. I don't understand why gay people continue to support her when she continuously ridicules gays in her act.
She also makes tons or racist, sexist, fat jokes. And she doesn't mean anything by any of them. I don't get your point?

she be joking, completely different from shit like chuck and larry if I have to say so myself!

I love Kathy and her show is so funny....
My 3 fav stand up comideans are:
1. Kathy Griffin
2. Wanda Sykes
3. Truimph the insult comic dog (yea i knw it's just a puppet lol)

She would probably like to think so but she's no different than "Chuck and Larry." She may be more clever, but her remarks serve the same purpose - to make fun of gays.

her entire audience is the gays. she knows that the majority of her audience is gay. and if you actually listen to her comedy act, she makes fun of celebrities, not gays. she might insert something about the gays here and...whatever. people will believe what they want. like Chuck and Larry is offensive. it isn't, but gay people are so sensitive they dont care

The point is that she makes fun of EVERYONE!

she makes fun of celebrities

she makes fun of straight men (she did a whole bit on her house mate)

she makes fun of religion

she makes fun of her family

she makes fun of politicians

so you expect her NOT to make fun of gays?

that would be very selective...

She makes fun of everyone, including straight men. I think this is a case of you being over sensitive to a non-issue. She shouldn't have to be politcally correct because you are sensitive to every gay shadow in the world.

Bullshit! Has she made fun of Blacks? Asians? Mexicans?

mmmmm, yep.

and her jokes really aren't that offensive, how much of her have you seen? why do you think a gigantic chunk of her fans are gay men, we don't have that bad taste!

I've seen plenty of her and have known her since she was performing with The Groundlings. It's not like I don't think she's funny. It's just that she stereotypes gays in her act then turns around and acts like she's supportive. I thought her remark about gays being "full of shit" for wanting kids was pretty stupid. Kathy Griffin does not seem to have a clue as to how many different types of gay people there are out there. As if every single one of us is some irresponsible, club-hopping circuit boy who doesn't have a clue how to raise kids. I certainly couldn't see her as a good parent either with her massive amounts of insecurity.

I guess hearing about how funny Kathy Griffin's comments on gays coming from the mouth of a straight co-worker who doesn't really know many gay people is what had me offended. Then having them say, yeah, Kathy Griffin is right gay people shouldn't be adopting children. It's all about what is "learned" from what she says. I think most of you would see what I'm talking about had you been hearing how what she said gets interpreted by a straight audience.
