I don't understand gays liking Kathy Griffin.

I agree. If gays expect to be accepted then, just like everyone else, they should also expect jokes to be made about them. I don't see where the big drama lies...

This is the same old drama as to whenever people make a joke about black people, someone has always to pull out the "that's racist!" card. Meh...overdramatic.

Then having them say, yeah, Kathy Griffin is right gay people shouldn't be adopting children. It's all about what is "learned" from what she says. I think most of you would see what I'm talking about had you been hearing how what she said gets interpreted by a straight audience.

She's human, she's far from perfect. Everyone commits double standards, some more than others. But judging her because of one incident seems unfair and lacking validity.

Yeah, well she should realize that the majority of America is made up of idiots and speak more positively of gays instead of ridiculing them.
 
Griffin doesn't present herself as being above the joke. She presents herself AS a joke. Audiences are willing to accept the things a comedian says as long as they believe it's not coming from a place of hatred or ignorance. Especially if it's something they kind of believe themselves.

Honestly, I don't mind that as much as when someone uses gay as an insult. i mean, she means it jokingly, she doesn't seem to hate us, she's kidding. And at least she had the guts to do the gay VN unlike most celebrities.

BDH, when you make the statement "I don't understand gays liking Kathy Griffin," you open the thread to people explaining why they like her. If you then just keep popping in talking about how you don't, it becomes you trying to tell people why they shouldn't like her. This thread is only going where it was basically inevitable for it to go from the very beginning.
 
You're entitled to speak your mind, nobody's saying that you aren't. It's just that we're not really understanding why you're angry and bitter towards her. It'd be one thing if you simply didn't like her...but it seems as if you hate her.

She's a known supporter of gays, one of the most supportive celebrities as a matter of fact, so you claiming she's being homophobic seems a bit...IDK, out there?

I understand if you don't care for her jokes, or her sense of humor. That's why there are many comedians (and comediennes), because people find different things funny.

But that is not what you said.
