I call it shock comedy. People only laugh because they can't believe that the comedians say what they say.

Kathy Griffin is more of a girl's comedian and I'm beginning to think that a lot of her gay fan base is made up of effeminate gay men. The type of gay guys who love celebrity gossip and relate to what Kathy says because they pretty much think like females themselves. These are the type of gays Kathy is constantly referring to in her act and that's probably why her comments come off as ridicule to the rest of us.

Giovanni has come close, but he just thinks she is a shitty comedian, and I can see where he gets that from. Her stuff doesn't seem very good, but it gets the laughs quite nicely.

George Carlin and Richard Pryor were the masters no doubt. But I don't see how different their stuff is from hers? Beyond the fact theirs were much more intelligent, and they got to their points a little faster.

I don't really think any of her stuff is shock comedy, but it is vulgar. It can be seen as insulting, but she does it all in jest. She makes fun of Oprah A LOT, but she will be the first to say she is a avid fan of the women, and all the other celebrities she makes fun off, unless she explicitely says she isnt.

But I can understand where you are coming from. Her brand of comedy is a...special type I guess you can say? Idk, I LOVE LOVE LOVE George Carlin though, and Richard Pyor makes me laugh to no end,
