heard about it, but never really looked into it or gave it a 2nd thought,
we've come along away, sort of](*,)

I think we could all do with a refresher course in Gay History 101 every now and then. Just so we know where we came from and more importantly, where we're going. What's that cliche again? "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it"?

Chiilly,
You need to get out of Cleveland more often. You could spend some time with me. I hope you know the Matthew Shepard story as well.

Actually I just need an excuse to hang out with you Chilly. I am glad you are a man who is getting acquainted with the important stories of the gay life, for before the 1970s you were probably likely to land in a local jail just about anywhere in the US except for the biggest cities. In some places, you are still at risk when you announce you are gay. Outside the closet is a dangerous place to be even in most places here in the USA.

:) Thank you for taking a look at Stonewall, congrats! There was a movie released in 1995 called Stonewall. It didn't have a huge budget, big name actors or producers, and surely no massive advertising budget but it gives a look at Stonewall it will make you laugh, cry, and bang your head in frustration even more.

I've read about it. I've looked up harvey milk as well.

I actually had to do a report on stonewall too as well as some either history relating to GLBT.

I was glad I read about it because when I went to pride last year I diddn't even really know what Pride was about. I just thought it was something that happens every year just because it's awesome.

But after learning the meaning behind it I am more excited about pride. Well Stonewall Week was okay and I'm glad they at least did something during stonewall month. But even though Pride is in October this year I still think it will be good.

There is a good movie on youtube though about stonewall. It's like the school house rock type thing.

We have much to thank the Men in Drag for. Not only were they brave and stood up to police brutality, they awakened public awareness of discrimination, and the fight for your rights.

Every time someone starts up with that "Why are trans-people included in the LGBT community?" nonsense, I want to sit them down with a big, illustrated book about the history of the movement. The same for those people who whine about leatherfolk, drag queens, and gender non-conforming types on PRIDE floats.
