I flushed a spider down the drain on purpose

^ yes I've just been searching for stats. Negligible number of Aussies killed by spiders; 56 good people killed by angry muslims in Britain in 2000-2006

Spiders happen...even in the cleanest of homes.
But they do not belong in the shower when you are in it!
One day, while I was in a shower in Florida, I was confronted with a palmetto bug . While they are not harmful bugs, this cousin of the cockroach was on the wall of the shower. He was too big to flush down the drain, and in my present nude state, I was not about to scream bloody murder and alert my relatives (with whom I was staying). i wanted to finish my shower in peace. So I took two paper Dixie bathroom drinking cups, scooped the bug off the wall, and quickly flushed it down the toilet. If it lived, more power to it. If it died, it received a proper burial at sea! The important thing...it was no longer in the shower with me! :D

Negligible number of Aussies killed by spiders;

I thought there was PLENTY of deadly poisonous spiders like Black Widow or Harvestman or types like that in Australia? I've seen it on Aussie soaps where a character is bitten by a spider and it has potentially fatal consequences. There MUST be deaths as a result if it happens without medicine or treatment.

What has this thread got to do with Muslims.
Wrong thread !!!

I thought that it was your favourite subject. :p

I have my limits with religious nuts but i'll make a new thread for that if i'm annoyed by it. ;)

I'm quite sure it's a myth that harvestman are extremely venomous (in fact I believe they're not venomous at all). We have plenty of red-backs and funnel webs, but I don't think they've caused a single death since anti-venoms were introduced many years ago.

Australia gets a bad rap because of the deadly animals, but in all honesty it's nowhere near as bad as anyone makes it out to be. Many of us just like to propagate misconceptions because it's fun to joke about. Plus, when you travel overseas as an Australian, people think you're a badass for being blasé about the 'deadly creatures' you come across on a daily basis. ;)

I read somewhere not long ago that on average in Australia, there are less than two deaths each year from snake bites; and the same goes for sharks and crocodiles. With a population of over 22 million people, the chance of you being one of them is absolutely miniscule. Not to mention the fact that you'll pretty much never see a legitimately dangerous animal in any of the cities. Don't worry, it's safe. :)

.
during the shower. I don't want to share my shower room with the spider.
Am i evil ?
If it was a redback spider, no that's not evil at all.

Actually, I usually just let spiders be, even in my house. I'd certainly rather that a stray mosquito ends up trapped and eaten, than being a potential source of West Nile Virus. I saw almost no mosquitos this year, though, because of our desert-type unusual summer.

And mitchymo, don't think that spiders are the only dangerous creatures that Australia has. I believe they have MOST of the ten deadliest snakes in the world, as well. But, most likely if I went to Australia, I wouldn't have a whole lot of time to travel the Outback either. Way too much to keep me busy in the towns and cities (as I've definitely evolved into a "city dude").

good job !!

THEY are evil

Have you seen how they viciously hide in a corner and stare at you with their 8 eyes (seriously?? what for???) they trap live the poor insect they catch in their web, then vomit/inject their gastric acid into the prey's body for it to be digested from the inside and then come back to sip it up when it's done? THAT is PURE evil !

Spiders were around long before humans and likely will be long after we are gone.

I just read a stat online that said scientist believe that at any given time there will be a spider somewhere within 3 feet of you.

We all know everything you read online is true

That will be comforting to know when I get into bed tonight. But as long as they STAY 3 feet (about a metre) away that's ok!

What a coincidence! This morning's newspaper has~

^In Australia, I'd say one.

A spider the size of your face can be quite the choking hazard.
