  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

I get bummed out by social media

The hyperdefined at any age represent an unwelcome amount of self-admiration, inward turned.

Life should be more about interacting with others, learning about other walks of life, collaborating, socializing, doing activities together, dining, etc.

Spending hours in the gym, centering your whole diet and liquids intake on muscle defnition, shaving the body, using makeup to tan the skin -- all that takes an enormous amount of time that is all over the top pride in one's image. It isn't any different if it's female beauty and the same obsession. By doing all that, you inherently spend less time looking outward.

Yeah, but with what he did to his face, who should care anymore.
I know building muscle mass takes time, but by the look of their faces in the after photos, it would seem that it takes decades.

It's the liftjobs... No pun originally intended

I know some people think muscles are gross but I find it sexy

I don't know many people who find muscles "gross."

Most whom I know who express anything close to that criticize the hyperdevelopment of muscles. For the young who compete in college sports, or even professional athletes, they almost never become bulging masses of muscles. They train and develop muscles that perform in their sports.

Bodybuilders don't compete in a sport, but a beauty show, almost exactly the same as prize cattle exhibited in state fairs or livestock auctions. As such, they represent a paragon of human physical development as a show piece, not as a functional human.

I, as others, prefer someone like a swimmer, who looks human, but is extremely accomplished at a skill such as swimming. Michael Phelps is a muscular man, but not bulky.

And, to each his own. I'm glad men like a variety of bodies.

Michael Phelps is awesome. He's not only hot, but he proved to the world that you can be a marijuana user and still win more gold medals than anybody.

Only a fool would bid on a bodybuilder. With all those muscles subject to constant stress, their flesh would be nearly impossible to chew.

Mr. Phelps, I suspect, would be a lot more tender. As a bonus, you might even catch a buzz if you ate enough of him.

Let's just call it more by its more proper name: bodybuilding.

Yes, it's gross. Even if you love them, you would have to admit you are engrossed by such looks

I used to swim laps for a chance to see men wearing nothing but a tight Speedo, er, I mean to get exercise. I remember seeing guys who had some aquatic sport background who looked almost like scrawny wimps on dry land. Then, I'd see them swim...and it was amazing how fast they could go.

As to Mr. Phelps, I'm quite proud of him making mental health a cause he supports strongly. We need more like him.

Speaking of bodybuilding, I discovered Jed North. Many of the models are bodybuilders. There is a bodybuilding section of clothing, including posing suits.
(Place your mouse over a t shirt and a photo of a model will appear)

Phelps looks gross and freaky from the jaw dawn by [given] nature, not by [developed] choice.
