Well, fuck, fuckity, fuck fuck. Had my yearly physical last week. My very cute and hot doctor broke the news to me; I now have type 2 diabetes. Things are so bad that he told me that I had to change things immediately. Neither the doctor nor I have an explanation of how this came about. I have not change anything in the last year. I exercise, I don’t over eat and I don’t drink excessively and I have gained any weight. I cannot have any alcohol whatsoever, no sugar, watch the carbs and start a medication to lower my sugar levels. I also have to jab myself twice a day to check my blood sugar level. I have done as I was told. Fuck, this is the worst time of year for this to happen. I have been pouting for days, but I do know better. I thought that the jabbing part would be difficult but it is not that bad. The worst part I think, is the lack of alcohol. While I am not a drunk, I do enjoy my martini with my guy and that little after dinner cocktail. I have been quite irritable to say the least but I put on my big boy pants and I am handling things a lot better this week.

Genetics.

Metformin. Lose weight. Monitor and see how you do.

I am so, so sorry to learn of this!
If you are able, please update your experiences as diabetes treatments can quickly change with new medications becoming available.

Once you get your glucose levels stable, moderate alcohol should be OK. Talk it over with your doctor after things have settled down.

Thanks to you all for the sympathy and encouragement. Merry Christmas.
